  • Patent number: 9735528
Abstract: An interposer for electrically coupling a battery-management circuit board in a power supply and a motherboard is described. The interposer includes: a substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface; first spring connectors, disposed on the top surface, which electrically couple to the battery-management circuit board; and second spring connectors, disposed on the bottom surface and electrically coupled to the first spring connectors, which electrically couple to the motherboard. Spring connectors in a first subset of the first and second spring connectors that convey power signals have a first vertical height, and spring connectors in a second subset of the first and second spring connectors that convey monitoring signals for the power supply have a second, smaller vertical height. In this way, the first subset is activated before the second subset is activated, thereby ensuring that an electrical path for the power signals is established first.

  • Publication number: 20140131954
Abstract: Shrinkage compensated seal assemblies and methods of compensating for shrinkage of a seal due to temperature variations, are provided. According to an exemplary shrinkage compensated seal assembly, the assembly includes a seal, a first compression member for engaging the upper surface of the seal, a second compression member for engaging the lower surface of the seal, and a plurality of pin members each having an elongate body and a head portion. The elongate body of each separate one of the plurality of pin members slidably extends through a different one of a plurality of sets of apertures in the first compression member, the seal, and the second compression member to provide for maintaining a substantially constant pressure on the seal at given pressure under varying temperature conditions that result in variations in the volume size of the seal.

  • Patent number: 8622121
Abstract: A reinforced wellhead member for use during fracing operations. The wellhead member is preloaded at a flange section by creating compressive stresses via a ring that interacts with a tightening nut on a bolt. The bolt is rigidly attached to an adapter which may also be modified to create stresses on the flange of the wellhead member. The induced stresses counter the tensile stresses experienced by the flange during fracing operations, allowing a standard wellhead member to be utilized.

  • Publication number: 20140000907
Abstract: A valve assembly for use in regulating a fracturing fluid that includes an actuating stem for actuating a gate, a balancing stem, and a backseat on the stem that defines a backseat seal when urged against a profile in the valve assembly. The backseat seal is energized by applying a force to an end of the balancing stem. An end of the balancing stem is enclosed within a plenum, so that the force on an end of the balancing stem can be applied by pressurizing the plenum. The assembly can be on an opposite side of the valve body/bonnet to create a backseat seal on a balancing stem/bonnet to allow changing the stem packing on the balance stem side while maintaining pressure integrity.

  • Publication number: 20130328521
Abstract: A power supply for use in a portable electronic device is described. This power supply includes battery cells in separate locations that are electrically coupled by a power bus to a battery-management circuit board, which includes an integrated circuit with control logic that monitors the battery cells and that regulates charging and discharging of the battery cells. The battery cells are not enclosed in a common battery-pack housing so that the battery cells are mechanically separate from each other. Moreover, the battery-management circuit board is external to the battery cells and is not enclosed in the battery-pack housing. By excluding the battery-pack housing from the power supply, there may be more space available to expand the sizes, and thus the total capacities, of the battery cells.

  • Patent number: 6900629
Abstract: A group wiring device which has built-in light emitting means and switch mechanism coupled with wire pair receptacle thereof. The switch mechanism is normally on a “CLOSE” status but can be switched to an “OPEN” status when a plug mates with the wire pair receptacle. When the switch mechanism is “CLOSE” and a testing voltage is applied to the circuit of the light emitting means, the light emitting means will emit light for assisting wire pair identification. After the process of wire pair identification is complete, the group wiring device is deemed to be in normal operation, that is, to perform ordinary signal transmitting functions. The wire pair receptacle will then be mated with plug of network cable so as to drive the switch mechanism to become “OPEN”. Therefore, the circuit of light emitting means becomes an open circuit and provides no function at all.

  • Patent number: 6888996
Abstract: A kit for identifying fiber optic connections in a fiber optic cabling system comprises a plurality of indication optic terminators and at least one test light generator. The fiber optic system comprises a patching device, a plurality of ports furnished on the patching device, a plurality of outlets remote from the patching device, and a plurality of fiber optic cables for optically connecting the ports and the outlets. Plurality of indication optic terminators are attached onto each of the ports of the patching device. By using the test light generator to apply a test light to one of the outlets, the test light reaches a corresponding connected port of the patching device through the connection of fiber optic cable so as to make the corresponding indication optic terminator attached onto that connected port to light.
