  • Patent number: 7607206
Abstract: A monolithic, multi-layer heating element forms the high temperature tip of a glow plug assembly. The heating element includes a conductive core which is surrounded by an insulator layer, which in turn supports a resistive layer. An optional conductive jacket can surround the resistive layer. These layered components are pre-formed in prior operations and then assembled one into the other to form a precursor structure. The precursor structure is transferred to a die, where it is compressed to form a so-called green part having dimensional attributes proportional to the finished heating element. The individual layers remain substantially intact, with some boundary layer mixing possible to enhance material-to-material bonding. The green part is sintered to bond to various materials together into an essentially solid mass. Various finishing operations may be required, following which the heating element is assembled to form a glow plug.

  • Patent number: 5036738
Abstract: A horizontal disc supported on a sawmill carriage arranged to project into a kerf made by a horizontal saw on the carriage whereby to provide vertical braced stabilization between a log and the carriage. The carriage also supports an abutment foot which faces the log and is arranged to have slidable engagement with a vertical surface of the log to control the depth of cut. The horizontal disc and abutment foot have adjustable movement whereby to have simultaneous extending and retracting movements. Hold down wheels are also provided which when set are arranged to forceably press the wheels down on a log to provide vertical stabilization.

  • Patent number: 4753144
Abstract: A horizontal disc is supported on an arm on a portable saw mill carriage in a plane such that the disc is arranged to follow a horizontal saw kerf to provide vertical stabilization between a log and a carriage. Also a foot is mounted on an arm and is arranged to engage the face portion of a log to provide lateral stabilization. This arm is laterally adjustable for locating it according to the depth of cut. Furthermore, a hold-down wheel assembly is supported on a link which is urged downwardly to provide vertical stabilization between a log and the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4620814
Abstract: A body portion of a device has an opening for receiving an engaging member and a portion of the body portion defining the opening is distortable into the opening. A wedge is provided in a tapered bore in the body portion adjacent the distortable defining portion and is arranged to distort the latter into engagement against an engaging member. The distortable portion comprises a tab formed by areas of removed material provided between the opening and the tapered bore.

  • Patent number: 4571840
Abstract: A gauge member has an abutment edge at one end for engaging a workpiece in establishing a depth of cut and is mounted in a holder on an adjustable working member. A spring urges the gauge laterally of the frame to position the abutment edge toward a workpiece but allows the gauge to be swung out of the way by a carriage as the latter passes by. The gauge is pivotally jointed intermediate its ends whereby to be capable of partially folding and releasing the abutment edge from a stuck position in a workpiece. A spring connects the jointed portions of the gauge and such spring in combination with the pivot for the joint maintains the sections in longitudinal alignment but allows the sections to partially fold and allow the abutment edge to free itself from the wood.

  • Patent number: 4559985
Abstract: A horizontal boom is rotatably mounted on an upright support and serves as a track for a movable member supporting, by means of a flexible line, wood splitting mechanism. The wood splitting mechanism includes a cylinder and piston rod assembly having splitting elements thereon which are moved apart and together by operation of the piston rod for accomplishing the splitting function. The wood splitting mechanism is movable vertically by a winch drum thereon for splitting wood on the ground in the entire area of reach of the boom around the upright support. The cylinder and piston rod assembly have an interengagement which prevents rotation of the piston rod in the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4540010
Abstract: A support post is arranged to support a first horizontal bar and a second horizontal bar at right angles to the first bar. Third and fourth bars are supported on the ends of the second bar in parallel relation with the first bar. Two forms of brackets are provided to interconnect the various bars, one form of the brackets supporting the second bar and the other form supporting the first and third and fourth bars. A removable cover extends over the first bar and is tied to the third and fourth bars.
