Patent number: 9445537Abstract: A soil opener has a frog mount adapted to be coupled to a shank or other mounting member of a farm implement. A spreader is removably coupled to the frog mount and includes forward and rearward product delivery channels that are intended to be flow-coupled to product delivery tubes or hoses of the farm implement. A tip is removably coupled to the spreader. The leading edges of the frog mount, the spreader, and the tip, as well as the geometry between these components are such that draft is minimized even when the soil opener is pulled through the soil at higher speeds, e.g., excess of 5 mph. The soil opener may be equipped with an optional soil gathering module.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2014Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: CNH Industrial Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Russell J. Memory, Martin J. Roberge, Jim W. Henry

Patent number: 7581597Abstract: A method of and system for moving an agricultural implement between a folded, inoperative system for transport and an extended, field position is provided. The method includes the steps of providing an agricultural implement having a right wing of tools and a left wing of tools each located on opposite sides of a central longitudinal axis of the implement relative to each other; moving one of the right and left wings of tools from an extended position to a folded, inoperative position for transport; and moving the other of the right and left wings of tools from an extended position to a folded, inoperative position for transport after the step of moving one of the right and left wings.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2006Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: CNH Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Blake R. Neudorf, Jim W. Henry, Terry A. Friggstad

Patent number: 7493964Abstract: A tillage implement includes a ground engaging tool assembly configured to enhance alignment relative to a forward direction of travel of a tow vehicle. The ground engaging tool assembly generally includes a ground engaging tool, a shank, and clip coupled therebetween. The ground engaging tool includes a mounting portion that defines a channel configured to receive an upper portion of the clip. The shank includes a lower portion that defines an elongated slot configured to receive a lower portion of the clip. The clip is configured to align the mounting portion of the ground engaging tool with respect to the shank and the forward direction of travel. The mounting portion and associated clip are also configured to not cause undesired disturbance of the ground beyond the side-to-side width of the shank relative to the forward direction of travel.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2004Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: CNH Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Jim W.
