  • Publication number: 20230191498
Abstract: A nozzle is arranged to provide coolant fluid to a cutting edge of a metal cutting tool. The nozzle includes at least one internal inlet coolant channel and at least one internal outlet coolant channel. The internal inlet coolant channel is connected to a coolant inlet and the at internal outlet coolant channel is connected to a coolant outlet for directing the coolant fluid to the cutting edge. The nozzle further includes a plenum chamber having at least one inlet opening connecting the internal inlet coolant channel and the plenum chamber and at least one outlet opening connecting the internal outlet channel and the plenum chamber. Each of the inlet openings have a cross-sectional area A1i and each of the outlet openings have a cross-sectional area A2i, wherein—?i=1nA1i>?i=1mA2i, where i is an integer, n is the number of inlet openings, and m is the number of outlet openings.

  • Publication number: 20230067286
Abstract: A cutting insert for a cutting tool includes a body having a cutting edge, a rake face, and micro channels provided on the rake face adjacent the cutting edge. The micro channels define a grid pattern of micro channels that intersect each other in a region of the rake face where contact between a chip and the rake face is assumed to occur during cutting with the cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 10596634
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a tool having a holder body, a cutting insert and a nozzle. The nozzle includes a single through hole for a fastening member. The nozzle has a forward end, a rear end and a bottom face. The through hole extends between the bottom face and an opposite top face. At least one internal coolant channel is provided in the nozzle and extends from a first opening to a second opening. The first opening connects to a coolant supply conduit in the holder body. The second opening serves as an exit for the coolant at the forward end. The at least one coolant channel and the first opening are spaced from the through hole.

  • Patent number: 10207329
Abstract: A tool having a toolholder and a cutting insert disposed in the pocket of the toolholder. The cutting insert includes a hole having a cutting insert clamping surface that is contacted by the clamp clamping surface. The clamp clamping surface and the cutting insert clamping surface are formed, such that as a clamp bottom surface is moved toward a bottom surface of the pocket, when a post is in a post hole and a fastener is in a clamp hole and a toolholder hole, the cutting insert is urged against the bottom surface and a rear wall. A tool holder is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190030613
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a tool holder body having a shank portion and a head portion, and an indexable cutting insert arranged in a cutting insert seat. The cutting insert includes a cutting edge and a clearance surface. The insert seat has a first convex wall and a second convex wall and at least one bottom surface at which the cutting insert is arranged to abut. The convex walls are situated on separate pins, which are perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to each other when seen in a side view. The second convex wall is situated below the cutting edge.

  • Publication number: 20190030612
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a tool holder body having a shank portion and a head portion. The head portion has an insert seat, wherein a cutting insert is detachably mounted by means of a locking member. The seat includes at least one bottom surface on which the cutting insert rests. A coolant conveying member is integral with the tool holder body. A normal (N; N?) to the at least one bottom surface intersects the coolant conveying member, such that the coolant conveying member at least partially covers the cutting insert. The coolant conveying member is spaced from the locking member and the cutting insert when viewed in side view.
