  • Patent number: 4278722
Abstract: A record carrier including an information-containing layer in the form of a composite insert comprising at least one paper insert and a film border. The composite insert is printed, without interruption, on both the paper insert and the film border in at least one printing operation. Transparent films on both surfaces of the composite insert seal the latter therebetween and form a paper-film laminate with each paper insert and film-film seals with the film border.

  • Patent number: 4269063
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the downhole force applied to a cable suspending a well-logging apparatus in a borehole according to the invention is connected between the cable and the well-logging apparatus. An elongated sensitive element has a strain gauge integrally bonded upon it for measuring the downhole force, and the strain gauge includes at least one sputter deposited strain gauge. The apparatus is provided with elements for compensating for pressure and temperature changes in the borehole, wherein an envelope is sealingly disposed about the strain gauge means and is formed to allow the sides of the envelope to deflect inwardly and outwardly from the strain gauge in response to changes in pressure and temperature in the borehole. The envelope is filled with oil.

  • Patent number: 4254338
Abstract: An infrared heat-image camera is aimed at a hot surface not perpendicular thereto but instead in a direction almost parallel to the surface, presenting to the camera a heat image of the surface not cartesian but instead highly distorted in accordance with the laws of optical perspective. The camera's output data is correspondingly non-cartesian and distorted with respect to organization and content, but the data is applied to a computer which transforms it to cartesian organization and corrects content, and then a corrected cartesian display is generated, simulating the heat image which would be presented to a perpendicularly aimed camera. Alternatively, the camera's scanning mechanisms are programmed to follow a non-cartesian scanning schedule, the geometry of which itself causes the camera output data to have the cartesian organization of a perpendicularly aimed camera.

  • Patent number: 4208231
Abstract: In one method of making the record carrier, a paper sheet is formed with an almost completely perforated punch or blanking line defining a paper insert or core, and a separating layer is applied to the upper surface of the paper sheet in bordering relation with the punch or blanking line. A thin film border is positioned on the separating layer and overlaps, inwardly, the punch or blanking line. A backing film is provided with a silicone separating layer congruent with the paper insert, and is applied to the back of the paper sheet. The thus assembled layers are then laminated to each other. The paper insert and the thin film border are then printed, without transition, in at least one printing operation. After the printing, the backing film and the paper sheet are separated from the paper insert and the thin film border. The resulting composite insert or core is then sealed between the two transparent films. In another method, a paper insert is positioned on a backing film and embedded therein.

  • Patent number: 3946869
Abstract: A package comprises a relatively stiff rectangular backing board with a transparent substantially rectangular bag of a smaller size secured to the backing board along a small marginal area adjacent its top edge. The backing board advantageously includes a fold down top edge or collar which engages over an upwardly extending portion of the underside of the bag and the bottom edge of the collar is spaced from the opening edge on the top side of the bag and the bag may be torn off the backing board by tearing it along the lower edge of the collar. The backing board advantageously includes one or more recesses which are engageable by a driver member to move the package assembly.
