Abstract: Apparatus for bonding at least two plies of fibrous web, includes: a first roller having an outer periphery, a plurality of embossing protuberances being provided on the outer periphery, such first roller being an embossing roller; and a second roller having an outer periphery and being elastic at least in a radial direction and together with the first roller forming a nip through which the at least two plies are be fed, such second roller being a counter roller or a marrying roller, wherein at least a part of the outer periphery of at least one of the first and the second roller is irregularly rough so that the at least two plies are bonded at discrete locations corresponding to at least some of the embossing protuberances. A multi-ply product including the bonded plies and a corresponding method are also described.

Abstract: A hygiene or wiping product includes at least one ply of a fibrous web containing cellulose fibers and having a graphical pattern of at least first and second areas. The ply contains a coloring compound providing a coloration of the ply in the first area. The coloring compound is at least partly chemically destroyed in the second area so that the ply is less colored in the second area than in the first area. A method for producing such a ply includes the steps of providing a fibrous web containing a coloring compound, which provides a uniform coloration in at least a portion of the web, and applying a bleaching agent to a part of the colored portion of the web to at least partly decolor the web in the part generating a pattern of at least first colored and second less colored areas.

Abstract: Adhesive (a1, a2) as a pattern of deposits is applied on both sides of a hydrophilic spunbond non-woven inner ply (B) of low grammage and no or low adhesion ability. Together with this inner ply (B) a three ply planar absorbent product is made with tissue outer plies (A,C) by exerting pressure on the adhesive such that the adhesive penetrates through the inner ply (B) for achieving ply bonding between the inner ply (B) and the opposite outer ply (C). The different adhesive patterns do not disturb each other because they do not coincide.

Abstract: A device for applying a spot embossing pattern to a web of multi-ply tissue paper being processed in a paper converting machine comprises a marrying roll and a spot embossing unit cooperating and being positioned against the marrying roll. The spot embossing unit comprises a spot embossing roll with a raised embossing pattern on its circumferential surface. The at least two plies of tissue web are combined with a marrying roll and pass between the marrying roll and the spot embossing unit.

Abstract: A device for measuring compression forces, preferably compression forces acting on mine roof supports in an underground mine gallery, comprises a pair of spaced substantially parallel abutment plates between which a pressure body composed of a plurality of elongated parts of relatively brittle material and having respectively different resistance against compression forces are arranged, closely adjacent each other, and extending in longitudinal direction normal to the abutment plates to be subjected to compression forces acting in opposite directions on the abutment plates, whereby the parts will be respectively deformed to a different degree indicating thereby the magnitude of the compression forces.
