  • Publication number: 20170182058
Abstract: Rett syndrome (RTT), a childhood neurological disorder that affects primarily females, may be treated by use of a galanthamine analog wherein the hydroxy group of galantamine is replaced of a carbarnate, carbonate or ester group and the methoxy group may be replaced by another alkoxy group of from two to six carbon atoms, a hydroxy group, hydrogen, an alkanoyloxy group or 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a benzoyloxy or substituted benzoyloxy group, a carbonate group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a carbamate group such as a mono alkyl or dialkyl or an aryl carbamate wherein the alkyl grottos or aryl groups contain from 1 to 10 carbons; and the N-methyl group may be replaced by hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms benzyl, cyclopropylmethyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted benzoyloxy group. Galantamine mon-alkylcarbarnates are particularly useful.

  • Patent number: 7484645
Abstract: A child carrier with a side buckle and ventilation features. The buckle includes a male portion and a female portion. The male portion of the buckle is shaped to mate with the female portion simply and easily, yet securely attaches the side portion of the carrier to the front/strap portion of the carrier. The buckle is robust, yet easy to use and does not easily disengage without a deliberate movement by the wearer thereof. The ventilation features provide comfort to the child carried in the carrier as well as the wearer thereof and are comprised of a ventilation panel that may be open, releasably closed, or accessed through a slit.

  • Patent number: 5849999
Abstract: Disclosed is a transgenic non-human mammal that expresses in its brain a transgene encoding an APP-C100 polypeptide with the flag amino acid sequence fused to the amino terminus of the APP-C100. This transgenic non-human mammal is an improved in vivo model for Alzheimer's disease-like neuropathology and associated cognitive impairment. The improvement includes accelerated development of AD-like neuropathology and cognitive impairment. The AD-like neurodegeneration and associated cognitive impairment in mice produced according to this invention appear at least six months sooner than they appear in APP-C100-expressing transgenic mice.
