Publication number: 20230016346Abstract: A battery system includes a battery receiving device and a plurality of battery units. Each battery unit can be coupled bidirectionally and inductively to one another and/or to the receiving device for charging/discharging. The receiving device can be connected to an external electrical energy source and/or sink. Each battery unit includes a coil unit. The receiving device has a storage seat for each battery unit removable with a magnetically complementary connectable coil unit for inserting/removing a battery unit without tools. The coil unit has a single coil which is substantially shaped as an elliptical, elongated flat coil, arranged in a half-shell housing and embedded in a ferrite core half-shell of ferrite elements, with a coil unit ratio of thickness to length/width of at least 1:5. The coil unit of the battery unit and receiving device are formed mechanically separable with a maximum distance between the coil units of 110 mm.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2022Publication date: January 19, 2023Inventors: Thomas Haring, Jochen Mast, Jean Schutz

Patent number: 10343534Abstract: An arrangement for inductively transmitting energy for charging an energy storage device of a rail vehicle. A first induction element transfers energy to a second induction element. An inverter with an adjustable AC voltage frequency provides an AC voltage to the first induction element. A controller controls the AC voltage frequency of the inverter. A measuring device ascertains a power output value during the wireless energy transmission and transmits the value to the controller and the controller adjusts AC voltage frequency of the inverter downward from an upper threshold until a pre-specified power output value is set while energy is being transmitted. The first induction element is paired with a track for rail traffic. The system and a method are also described for inductively transmitting energy for charging an energy storage device of a rail vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2015Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: Siemens Mobility GmbHInventors: Rolf Fischperer, Jens Helfrich, Jochen Mast, Michael Meinert, Jean Schutz

Patent number: 8085031Abstract: The invention relates to a device for supplying power to measuring sensors and transmitting a synchronous clock signal thereto, in particular, for a low-voltage switchgear, with a power supply unit (10) whose output signals are transmitted to the measuring sensors via transformers providing the isolation. A quartz-controlled oscillation circuit arrangement (quartz-controlled clock generator) is provided whose output signals are supplied to the power supply unit (10) so that the clock frequency of the power supply unit output signals is the same for the primary sides of the transformers (11, 12, 13), the frequency lying within the operating range of the transformers (11, 12, 13).Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2006Date of Patent: December 27, 2011Assignee: ABB Patent GmbHInventors: Jochen Mast, Stefan Weiers, Klaus-Georg Müller

Patent number: 7911307Abstract: The invention relates to a variable transformer comprising at least one primary winding and at least one secondary winding which can be rotated in relation thereto. The primary winding and the secondary winding are subdivided into at least two winding sections. The winding sections interlock in a comb-like manner and the flow of current of directly opposite winding sections is directed in the respective opposite direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2004Date of Patent: March 22, 2011Assignee: ABB Research LtdInventors: Jochen Mast, Jean Schutz, Jens Helfrich, Guntram Scheible, Colin Luthardt
