  • Patent number: 7644662
Abstract: An elastic retention ring for the combustible casing of a piece of ammunition with respect to a base, the ring including two concentric substantially ring-shaped portions, one internal the other one external. The portions are linked by radial arms, and are continuous or not and have different diameters. The external portion incorporates at least one plane part and the radial arms form an angle with respect to the plane of plane part.

  • Patent number: 6805058
Abstract: The invention relates to a sabot for fin-stabilized ammunition composed of segments assembled around a sub-calibrated penetrator. The sabot is characterized in that it includes at least three longitudinal bars of a substantially constant width, each having indentations co-operating with an external profile of the penetrator to allow it to be driven, as well as a calibrated thrust plate integral with the bars. Application to projectile firings.

  • Patent number: 6474239
Abstract: The invention relates to an igniter tube, notably for artillery ammunition, and comprising a stack of at least two ring-shaped tablets made of an igniting composition and joined together by a heat-shrinkable sheath. This tube incorporates a case having a tubular part inside which the stack of tablets is introduced leaving a little play, the tubular part thus covering at least part of the stack, and it comprises a ring made integral with the tablets by the heat-shrinkable sheath, said ring incorporating an abutment surface that is held by retention means against a matching surface carried by a bore of the case. Application to the ignition of ammunition propellant charges.

  • Patent number: 5138951
Abstract: The technical sector of the invention is that of devices for stopping rotation between a rifled bar and a sabot of an arrow-type projectile. The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one obstacle (6) disposed in a housing (7) made radially in the sabot (1), immobilized in translation in its housing by a locking means and one end (8) of which comes into contact with the bar (2) at the level of a bearing surface arranged at a distance from the axis (4) of the bar which is at least equal to the maximum diameter of the rifling of the bar.Application to large-caliber arrow-type munitions.

  • Patent number: 5133262
Abstract: A subcaliber projectile including a penetrator preferably made of tungsten eavy metal, and having a penetrator tip section and a section following thereafter and extending over the major portion of the penetrator length which is provided with an external thread (helical groove) or circumferential annular grooves to provide a form-locking connection with a discardable propelling cage sabot. To realize improved piercing power for the penetrator, the form-locking region is composed of annular grooves without a pitch, or of a fine metric thread having a thread valley, with a width of approximately one to three times the base width of the groove defining wall or of a thread peak. Preferably a more brittle material is employed in the front penetrator region than in the tail region, and a further indentation structure is incorporated in the first frontal thread turns or grooves of the form-locking region.
