Patent number: 11978962Abstract: An antenna array that utilizes ground guard rings and metamaterial structures is disclosed. In certain embodiments, the antenna array is constructed from a plurality of antenna unit cells, wherein each antenna unit cell is identical. The antenna unit cell comprises a top surface, that contains a patch antenna and a ground guard ring. A reactive impedance surface (RIS) layer is disposed beneath the top surface and contains the metamaterial structures. The metamaterial structures are configured to present an inductance to the patch antennas, thereby allowing the patch antennas to be smaller than would otherwise be possible. In some embodiments, the metamaterial structures comprise hollow square frames. An antenna array constructed using this antenna unit cell has less coupling than conventional antenna arrays, which results in better performance. Furthermore, this new antenna array also requires less space than conventional antenna arrays.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2022Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Silicon Laboratories Inc.Inventors: Attila Zólomy, Ádám Süle, Joel Kauppo, Terry Lee Dickey, Jeffrey Tindle

Publication number: 20240091617Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to an adjustable-incline climbing wall. The climbing wall comprises one or more climbing panels supported by a frame and a system for adjusting the incline of the frame to provide a climbing wall of a desired incline. The incline of the climbing wall may be adjusted by activating an actuator, which extends the upper portion of the frame a distance from a support wall, tilting the climbing wall to a desired incline. When the climbing wall is substantially vertically oriented, the system for adjusting the incline of the climbing wall may extend only a small distance from the support wall so that the adjustable-incline climbing wall has a relatively small footprint. In some embodiments, the climbing wall may also comprise one or more fitness accessories that can brought to an optimal height for a particular user through adjustment of the climbing wall incline.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Timothy Shawn Sudeith, Sarah Mae Howard, Benjamin Tiffin, Joel Greenblatt, Joseph Sweeney, Aaron Jon Baumgartner, Justin Lee
