  • Patent number: 4692987
Abstract: A cabinet construction for domestic appliances is provided in which four vertical side panels are secured to a horizontal base panel and each other by interlocking slot and tab means and two restraining bars securing the top ends of the side panels. A top panel is securable by slot and tab means and resilient snap fasteners so that the entire cabinet can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled. One or more of the side panels can be removed during operation of the appliance to view the interior mechanism for assistance in servicing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 13, 1986
Date of Patent: September 15, 1987
    Assignee: Whirlpool Corporation
Inventors: Victor W. Cuthbert, Joel M. Snider
  • Patent number: 4656844
Abstract: A centrifugal liquid additive dispenser is provided for an automatic washer having a high stroke rate oscillating vertical agitator and a high spin speed which is readily assembled onto and removed from the agitator by means of a deformable annular wall with inwardly projecting buttons which engage below a lip on the agitator and are held in a locked position by a movable locking ring. The dispenser has a cup which is designed to prevent the dispensing of liquid below a rotational speed of 300 R.P.M.

  • Patent number: 4533126
Abstract: A three piece snubber is provided with two frictional surfaces, a low frictional surface and a high frictional surface and said snubber is held between a frame of an automatic washer and a suspended mass such that small movements between the frame and the mass causes movement between the parts of the snubber at the low friction area and large movement between the frame and the mass results in movement of the snubber as a whole with the high friction area contacting a support pad and resulting in the desired snubbing action.

  • Patent number: 4485645
Abstract: A foreign objects trap for an automatic washer is provided in the wash liquid flow path just upstream of the pump which has a settling chamber and a separator plate to trap foreign objects. The separator plate has irregularly shaped tubes therethrough which, in conjunction with a closely spaced wall of the trap housing, prevent passage of lighter than water objects. A lower portion of the housing is removable for cleaning and is transparent for visual inspection.
