  • Patent number: 9140304
Abstract: A roller bearing assembly includes at least one outer ring (16, 18) with an outer track (24, 26), which is surrounded on its outer side by an outer part (36), and at least one inner ring (20, 22) with an inner track (28, 30), which surrounds the inner part (52). The inner part (52) and the outer part (36) project axially beyond the inner ring (20, 22) and the outer ring (16, 18), so that an explosion prevention gap (62) is formed between the inner part (52) and the outer part (36). • Patent number: 8371107
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the regeneration, temperature loading and/or thermal management of a component, assigned to an exhaust system, of an internal combustion engine. The device includes at least one injection valve which injects a fluid, in particular fuel, into the exhaust system, preferably in chatter mode, for example as a function of the pressure of the supplied fluid. The injection valve has a valve head and a valve seat which have geometries designed in such a way that a fluidic force of the supplied fluid acting on the injection valve drops continuously over a stroke of the valve head. The invention also relates to an injection valve having such valve-head and valve-seat geometries and to a corresponding method for the regeneration, temperature loading and/or thermal management of a component, assigned to an exhaust system, of an internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6626159
Abstract: The gas distributor apparatus has a common gas-supply line for supplying gas to a plurality of devices, e.g., arranged in series, the gas-supply line representing a substructure with an inner supply orifice and connecting pieces, which conform in number to the devices for injecting a fuel-gas mixture, and which extend in a normal direction starting from the gas-supply line and contain branched-off ports that communicate directly with the supply orifice. A permanent connection is established between the gas distributor apparatus and the devices in that gas-intake ducts are configured on the gas-containing bodies at least partially surrounding the devices, the gas-intake ducts having functional elements and projecting with these elements into the connecting pieces of the gas distributor apparatus. The gas is made available simultaneously for all devices in the supply orifice and then flows in each case via one connecting piece to a device.

  • Patent number: 6497094
Abstract: A method for monitoring a secondary air system in combination with the exhaust-gas system of a motor vehicle is described. The method includes the steps of: providing a probe downstream of the junction of a secondary air line into the exhaust-gas channel; obtaining an air/fuel ratio (&lgr;exhaust gas) utilizing the probe; obtaining a signal for the intake air flow (massintake air); arithmetically determining the secondary air mass (masssecondary air) in dependence upon (a) the ratio of intake air flow to fuel (&lgr;engine), which is metered per unit of time; (b) the air/fuel ratio (&lgr;exhaust gas); and, (c) the signal for the intake air flow (massintake air); and, evaluating the operability of the secondary air system in dependence upon the secondary air mass (masssecondary air).

  • Patent number: 5873354
Abstract: A fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine having an intake air metering device, leading to individual combustion chambers several fuel injection valves, each of which is assigned to one combustion chamber, and a central fuel vaporizer to which fuel can be supplied by a fuel metering device. To reduce pollutant emissions during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine after start-up, fuel vapor generated in the fuel vaporizer can be added to the intake air for the combustion chambers downstream from the intake air metering device.

  • Patent number: 5575257
Abstract: In a method and device for the open-loop control of an internal-combustion engine, the change in the torque caused by an influencing of the ignition angle is compensated for by a correspondingly adjusted influencing of the air inducted by the internal-combustion engine. Thus, the accelerator-pedal characteristic is hardly influenced in the case of a change in the ignition angle. The method and device can be used, for example, to accelerate the heating up of a catalytic converter after start-up of the internal-combustion engine. To reinforce the heating operation and to reduce emission, an intervention in the air/fuel ratio can be made at the same time, and a switching signal can be produced, for example, for a secondary air pump. The air inducted by the internal-combustion engine is generally influenced by an idle-speed actuator, which is arranged in a by-pass duct leading to the throttle valve.

  • Patent number: 5209205
Abstract: A method and apparatus for injecting fuel into the cylinders of an engine which has an injection valve for each cylinder that is positioned so that it can injection fuel into an open inlet port. The method and apparatus provide for fuel to be partially injected into a suction pipe leading to the cylinder before the corresponding intake-valve arrangement opens, so that it is stored in advance. Fuel is also partially injected into the open inlet port. A value which is a measure of the temperature in the suction pipe also is acquired. On the basis of this acquired value, the total required fuel quantity to be stored in advance is determined and to what extent this fuel quantity will be injected after the injection-valve arrangement opens. The method and apparatus avoid the formation of wall film in the suction pipe as a result of storing too much injected fuel in advance.
