  • Patent number: 8152520
Abstract: A bracket for attaching an arch wire to a tooth includes a dental plate with a back and a front, wherein the back is intended to be attached to a tooth by an adhesive connection, and also an arch wire holder for fastening the arch wire to the bracket, wherein the arch wire holder is fitted at the front of the dental plate. The bracket farther includes an arm, a first end of which is attached, or can be attached, to the dental plate and a second end carries the arch wire holder. The arm extends along the front of the dental plate. The arm is made of bendable wire material, such that the position of the arch wire holder in respect of the dental plate can be adjusted by bending the arm. The invention further relates to the use of a bracket according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 6299439
Abstract: The invention relates to a suture expansion device. The suture expansion device comprises a central stretching screw support; on either side of the stretching screw support, a right and a left fixing means support for fixing to the right and, respectively, the left section of the jaw; and two stretching screws which are parallel to one another extending between the fixing means supports and accommodated in screw passages made in the stretching screw support and threaded to match the relevant stretching screw. The stretching screws can be screwed outwards in mutually opposed directions out of the stretching screw support in order to push the right-hand and left-hand fixing means supports apart. For each fixing means support a guide system is provided that prevents rotation of the relevant fixing means support relative to the stretching screw support and guides movement of the fixing means support in the longitudinal direction of the stretching screw.

  • Patent number: 5915961
Abstract: A tensioning system for an orthodontic outer brace includes a resilient element and coupler for transmitting a tensile force exerted by the resilient element to the outer brace. The tensioning system involves an arc-shaped guide path, along which the resilient element is freely movable. The resilient element preferably has a spring constant which decreases or is zero on further extension after a specific spring force or extension is reached. The resilient element is preferably a helical spring.

  • Patent number: 5895217
Abstract: A hard palate supporting device for pushing apart or anchoring of upper teeth, such as molars and/or premolars, includes a hard palate supporting element and/or carrier therefor, a hinge by means of which the supporting element or carrier is rotatable relative to an axis of rotation extending in the transverse direction of the teeth, and a spring which on rotation of the supporting element or carrier in a direction away from the position resting against the hard palate exerts on the supporting element or carrier a force counter-acting such rotation. The supporting device can also include a stopper which limits rotation in the direction of the position resting against the hard palate, preferably to the contact position.

  • Patent number: 5667380
Abstract: The invention relates to a tensioning system for an orthodontic outer brace, comprising resilient means, and coupling means for transmitting a tensile force exerted by the resilient means to the outer brace. The resilient means comprise a resilient element. The tensioning system comprises an arc-shaped guide path, along which the resilient element is freely movable. Coupling means can be fixed on one side to the outer brace and are connected to one another on the other side via the resilient element, in such a way that the resilient element moves along the guide path when the patient turns his or her head. The guide path can comprise a tube or an arc-shaped strip of metal or can be formed in some other way. Preferably, the guide path is so flexible that the arc shape thereof can be adjusted to the curvature of the patient's neck. The resilient element preferably has a spring constant which decreases or is zero on further extension after a specific spring force or extension is reached.
