    Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of antenna arrangements for portable radio communication devices. In an exemplary embodiment, there is an antenna arrangement for a portable communication device having a metal casing. The antenna arrangement generally includes a front side part of the metal casing. A first back side part is connected to the front side part through a top side part of the metal casing. A second back side part is connected to the front side part through a bottom side part of the metal casing. The bottom and top side parts are positioned at opposite ends of the front side part. The first and second back side parts are positioned and distanced from each other by a gap.

    Abstract: The method is for providing a service system. The method identifies a location of a user of the service system. The user selects a category of the service system. A database is searched for service providers of the selected category. The method identifies a first location of a first service provider and a second location of a second service provider found in the search for the selected category. The first location is closer to the location of the user than the second location. The first and second service providers are ranked regarding proximity to the location of the user so that the first service provider is ranked higher and listed before the second service provider. A map is provided showing the location of the user, the first location of the first service provider and the second location of the second service provider.

    Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the detection of bits which are protected by repetition, and which, along with their repetitions, have associated soft values available which give a measurement of the reliability of their received values. In particular, the present invention may be used in speech encoding in the GSM mobile communications system, and more particularly to the detection of those class 2 bits called pulse5 bits which are not protected with channel coding. In enhanced full rate (EFS) transmission in GSM there are 4 bits called pulse5 bits. These pulse5 bits are duplicated twice, giving three bits for each original bit, for a total of twelve pulse5 bits. These bits have associated soft values, a probability measure of their reliability, that are produced by the equalizer.

If the interference exceeds a predetermined threshold, interference rejection combining (IRC) is used. If the interference does not exceed the predetermined threshold, maximum ratio combining (MRC) is used. The diversity combining technique can be selected, and the signals combined every burst, half-burst, or other suitable interval.
