  • Patent number: 7877685
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a computer interface that allows for the amount of text selected using a text selection utility to be changed after the selection has been made. A user may make an initial selection, then later change the amount or portion of text that was selected using selection handles displayed on the selection.

  • Patent number: 7814165
Abstract: An automatic message classification system includes a set of stored messages. Each message contains address identifiers. An incoming message processor delivers incoming messages to the system, each containing incoming address identifiers. A list of address identifiers is created by retrieving each address identifier of each message within the set of stored messages and adding the address identifier to the list if it does not already exist in the list. A central processor calculates a predictive address value for each address identifier in the list of address identifiers by dividing one by the number of occurrences of the address identifier in all messages within the set of stored messages. A central processor of the system compares the incoming address identifiers with the address identifiers of each message located within the set of stored messages to generate a predictive message value for each message.

  • Patent number: 7729956
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods to allow those offering products and services, for example, via web pages, to collect accurate preferences and requirements with a minimum of effort required from a potential customer. Product information containing priority indicators is presented to a user while the user is viewing product information. By selecting a priority indicator, he user may indicate that he is interested in specific product features associated with each priority indicator. This information may then be used to construct detailed product information, quotations, demonstrations, or other material. Thus, accurate, valuable, and useful customer data may be collected without imposing on potential customers to invest a great deal of effort.

  • Patent number: 7730427
Abstract: The present invention introduces a “contextual icon” to an icon-driven interface in which a single icon represents a shortcut to a suite of computer applications. The icon is associated with a single main application that may be invoked if an operator double-clicks on it or enters some other predetermined quick launch command. The desktop icon also may be associated with a context menu that reveals ancillary applications or tools that are related to the suite and typically are used less frequently than the main menu. The context menu may be opened with an ancillary interaction command (example: right clicking on the icon) and, thereafter, an operator may browse through and select an application from the context menu that may be desired. In this way, the contextual icon management scheme reduces desktop clutter while maintaining a highly intuitive navigation scheme among related applications.

  • Patent number: 7725815
Abstract: A method and system is provided for resizing columns in a table when a table width is changed from a current table width to a new table width. The table may contain data and may be displayed to a user. The table may be resized responsively to the user's inputs or other conditions. A new column width is determined for each column in the table based on a column minimum width and a column maximum width associated with each column. Column minimum widths and column maximum widths may be selected to enhance user comprehension of data displayed in the table. Each column may be associated with a variable representing an order, and the columns may be resized in ascending sequence based on the order variable.

  • Patent number: 7707512
Abstract: Systems and methods for context switching within enterprise resource planning systems are contemplated, including a first and second user context. A user performing tasks in the first user context actuates an actuator in communication with a context switcher. The context switcher changes the user's user context from the first user context to the second user context in response to an event. The user is then able to perform tasks in the second user context.

  • Patent number: 7503009
Abstract: An icon-driven computer system collects a plurality of data files under a common graphical icon. Commands entered into the computer system with respect to the icon may be interpreted as a command to repeat the same action on each of the data files linked to the icon. Related commands provide for simple maintenance of the grouped icon—by adding files to or removing files from the icon—and selection of one data file from within the group for special treatment. In this regard, the grouped icon represents a selection of multiple data files wherein the selection has persistence and may be revised over time.

  • Patent number: 7487466
Abstract: In an icon-based computer interface, a context menu includes a command line prompt for entry of textual parameter data for application programs. Computer operators may enter textual parameter data for the application via the command line prompt and launch the application corresponding to the icon in a manner that is determined by the parameter data.
