  • Publication number: 20120005539
Abstract: An information handling system includes a peripheral component interconnect express root complex, a basic input output system, and a root complex mirroring block. The peripheral component interconnect express root complex includes a plurality of peripheral component interconnect express ports. The basic input output system is in communication with the peripheral component interconnect express root complex, and is configured to detect a peripheral component interconnect express adaptor configuration, and to set a peripheral component interconnect express mirroring setting based on the peripheral component interconnect express adaptor configuration. The root complex mirroring block is in communication with the basic input output system, and is configured to mirror data between a first peripheral component interconnect express adaptor and a second peripheral component interconnect express adaptor based on the peripheral component interconnect express mirroring setting.

  • Publication number: 20110087910
Abstract: An auxiliary power control system for enabling a software command that a management controller sends to the power supply to shut down auxiliary power. Such a power control system enables an AC cycle without needing to physically remove an AC power cord and provides additional power savings when a system is not in use. In certain embodiments, the auxiliary power control system includes a paradigm of a main power state, an auxiliary power state and a sub-auxiliary state. In this system many of the power states and wake vents apply to the auxiliary power state in addition to the main power state.

  • Publication number: 20110080151
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a multi-phase voltage regulator may comprise a plurality of phases, each phase configured to supply electrical current to one or more information handling resources electrically coupled to the voltage regulator. A controller may be electrically coupled to the plurality of phases. The controller may designate at least one of the plurality of phases as a first state phase, and designate each of the plurality of phases not designated as a first state phase as a second state phase. The controller may alternate the designation of at least two of the plurality of phases between a first state phase and a second state phase. Each first state phase may be configured to supply a first electrical current regardless of electrical current demand. Each second state phase may be configured to supply a second electrical current based on the current demand.

  • Publication number: 20100100756
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for power supply wear leveling in an information handling system including multiple power supply units (PSUs) is provided. The method includes maintaining each of multiple PSUs in one of multiple different operational states, automatically determining an accumulated on-time for each of the multiple PSUs, ranking the multiple PSUs based on the accumulated on-time determined for each PSU, and automatically changing the operational state of at least one of the PSUs based at least on the ranking of the multiple PSUs.
