  • Patent number: 6606481
Abstract: A system provides interactive control of broadband services. There are today systems which offer distributive services, for instance analog cable-TV, analog satellites and acting terrestrial TV-networks. A paradigm shift, however, has been initiated in connection with that digital transmissions have started, which make possible a more spectrum efficient transmission. This means, for instance, that a broadband service such as digital transmission of video channels can be developed by making it interactive. One solution can be to use the GSM-system. For example, services which require low capacity in uplink can utilize the SMS-function is GSM. At larger demand of bandwidth GSM's data services can be utilized, which however prevents calls when the telephone is used for interactive communication. The invention solves this problem by interactive traffic between the transmitting and receiving equipment being managed by an interactive center (IC) which is arranged to execute wanted broadband service.

  • Patent number: 6188873
Abstract: A broadband radio access method device and system includes a first wireless communication segment that operates under 10 GHz, and a second wireless communication segment that operates over 20 GHz. Coordination between the first segment and second segment occurs when establishing links with a subscriber, such that the broader band services available from the second communication link, are assigned to the subscriber, when the communications channel is available to support line-of-sight communications with the subscriber. When the communications channel does not support the second communication segment, the subscriber is assigned to operate with the first communication segment. An integrated first and second segment terminal is provided to provide a transmodulation device for converting signaling protocols between the two different segments so as to support communications between the subscriber and the intended recipient even if the two use apparently incompatible signaling protocols.

  • Patent number: 6047177
Abstract: A method, device and system for radio based short range communication makes possible local network access for capacity-demanding broadband services in a cellular short range system such as DECT. Two separate cellular systems for short range communication are integrated to make a hybrid system, where one of the systems is a DECT system and the other system is a LMDS system. The integration combines DECT and LMDS so that LMDS is used for radio transmission between a DECT-PP and a DECT-RFP via an uplink and a downlink, and for transmission of broadband information in a downlink. The DECT aspect is used for speech, narrow band and medium band data communication, and for transmission of authorization/encryption information so that only authorized subscriber can utilize the information which is transmitted via DECT and LMDS.

  • Patent number: 6038221
Abstract: A radio based access network type Digital European Cordless Telecommunication DECT in which powerful and simply-built up network components, such as repeaters are an integral part. The device makes possible a signaling which makes digital decoding and adding a special capacity to the system unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 5983104
Abstract: In telecommunication systems, for instance of the type DECT, there are mobile units which move within and between the cells of the system. The new device identifies mobile units which move with a predetermined speed and the identification is performed by means of fading measurements.

  • Patent number: 5943323
Abstract: For repeaters in a radio-based communication system, there is a function for identification and initiation of the respective repeater concerned. The said function can be effected without the need for digital decoding in the respective repeater concerned.

  • Patent number: 5910943
Abstract: A radio based communication system including stationary units, portable or mobile units, and repeaters. Respective mobile units communicate using a normal access schedule where transmitting and receiving functions are separated in time, for instance with a half time frame. Reception for a respective current stationary unit is delayed a number of time slots in relation to transmitting from the stationary unit, at which the stationary unit is aware of the delay and consequently the use of a repeater. Also repeating of information is arranged to be performed within one time frame.
