Abstract: A prime mover has an internal combustion engine and a motor generator. A setpoint of a torque depends on a variable representing the wish of an operator of the prime mover and on operating variables of the internal combustion engine. Actuating signals for actuators of the internal combustion engine depend on the setpoint of the indicated torque. An actuating signal for the motor generator which is arranged on the output shaft of the internal combustion engine depends on the setpoint of the torque.

Abstract: A setpoint torque is determined from a torque factor, a maximum torque and a minimum torque. The torque factor is derived from a pedal value and a rotational speed. The maximum and minimum torques are determined as a function of the rotational speed, a loss torque and engine performance parameters. The loss torque is determined as a function of the rotational speed and the performance parameters.

Abstract: A method and device for controlling an internal combustion engine includes a pedal position transmitter which registers the pedal position of a gas pedal. An estimated value of a desired torque to be applied at a clutch is derived cyclically from the pedal position and at least one operating variable of the internal combustion engine. A set point of the desired torque is ascertained as a function of an estimated value of the desired torque. A change over time of the set point (TQ.sub.-- REQ.sub.-- EST) of the desired torque is limited to a predefined change value (AW) while the set point remains in a predefined value range about the zero value of the desired torque.

Abstract: A closure for a large diameter circular opening such as the end of a tubular conduit subjected to internal positive pressure comprises a coaxial cover lid that may be opened only when a pressure relieving venting valve is opened, the cover lid being connected over the opening by screw threaded means of larger diameter than the inside diameter of the opening, and the venting valve having a removable closure cap which impedes removal of the lid until the internal pressure is vented.
