  • Patent number: 7901349
Abstract: Apparatus and method for detecting connectivity in a channel in an endoscope undergoing reprocessing using an automatic reprocessor, the apparatus including a source of pressurized fluid which may be a gas alone or gas and liquid and a back pressure detector connected to the channel or channels of interest in the endoscope, the method including providing a source of pressurized fluid, directing the pressurized fluid to a channel in an endoscope, monitoring the time for the back pressure in the pressurized fluid to decay to a predetermined level; and determining whether the channel is connected and open or disconnected by comparing the decay time of the actual back pressure to one or more predetermined values corresponding to the specific channel or channels and model of endoscope undergoing reprocessing.

  • Publication number: 20040091391
Abstract: During the treatment, in particular cleaning, disinfecting and drying, of used, dirty endoscopes, in order to render them suitable once again for subsequent use, the following steps take place: placing a used, dirty endoscope in a rack, connecting the passages of the endoscope to a connection block which is arranged in a fixed position in the rack, placing the rack, with the endoscope therein, in at least one device for treating the endoscope, the connection block being connected to a counter-connection block which is present in the treatment device, in order to bring about a connection between the endoscopes and the treatment device, subjecting the endoscope which is accommodated in the rack to a specific treatment in the treatment device, taking the rack with the endoscope therein out of the treatment device, and uncoupling the endoscope from the connection block after it has been taken out of the final treatment device.

  • Patent number: 6260560
Abstract: For the purpose of cleaning and/or disinfecting endoscopes having a plurality of channels, each channel is connected to a feedline, which is provided with a shut-off valve, for a cleaning and/or disinfecting agent, and each channel is flushed with a cleaning and/or disinfecting agent. If necessary, before flushing the channels, separating means are arranged in the endoscope in order to separate channels from one another, in such a manner that during flushing only single channels are present in the endoscope. Each single channel is connected to a feedline for a cleaning and/or disinfecting agent and is flushed separately. The single channels which merge in the endoscope into a common channel part are flushed one after the other. Advantageously, if single channels of mutually different passage width are flushed simultaneously, an additional flow restriction is arranged in at least the feedline connected to the channel with the greater passage width.
