Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of downscaling and blending of two high resolution images, and particularly to a device and a method allowing for downscaling and blending of a HD JPEG background image and a HD bitmap image, which is overlaid on the JPEG background image. The device comprises means for downscaling the background image by a pre-determined factor n1, n2, . . . nN; means for uncompressing the downscaled background image and the high-resolution bitmap image; means for dividing the uncompressed high-resolution bitmap image into blocks of n1×n2× . . . ×nN pixels, whereby the size of each block correspond to the size of each pixel of the downscaled background image; and, means (16) for blending each of the blocks of the uncompressed high-resolution bitmap image with each of the pixels of the downscaled background image and thus producing a blended image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a record carrier (D) storing audio data as audio tracks (t) in audio files and associated management information (m). Further, the present invention relates to a corresponding playback and recording apparatus. To avoid annoying clicks at the end or beginning of live recorded audio tracks if those tracks are not played back seamlessly but by suppressing of introductory audio data stored in the pre-track, it is proposed according to the present invention that a seamless playback information (play_pre_track) is provided in the management information (m) indicating if an audio track (t) has to be plaid back seamlessly after a particular other audio track.

Abstract: A disc recording device has a rule based extent allocation strategy. Real-time information like audio is to be reproduced continuously via a rendering system having predefined properties: a buffer, a minimal read-out speed Rdisc, and a maximal seek time Tseek. The information is arranged in files that have a maximal data rate Rfile, and a maximal size of header information Sheaders that precedes and/or follows the real-time information in the file. The information of the files is recorded in contiguous parts of the track at least having the size of Sextent. The device has an allocation unit (35) for determining a minimal size of an extent Sextent that is a continuous recording unit at least taking into account the properties Rdisc, Tseek, Rfile and Sheaders, in particular according to Sextent=((Tseek+Sheaders/Rdisc)*Rfile*Rdisc)/(Rdisc?Rfile).
