  • Patent number: 5767471
Abstract: In a pressurized gas circuit-breaker the mobile contact member is fixed to a connecting rod that passes coaxially through the fixed braking cylinder. The braking cylinder has transverse walls at both ends so as to delimit a cylinder. The connecting rod has a drive abutment that drives the braking piston in a final section of the opening travel, which increases the pressure in the first sub-space and reduces the pressure in the second sub-space. The braking piston is disposed on a bush around the connecting rod, the bush and the connecting rod delimiting an annular cylinder space between the drive member and a counter-abutment on the bush, a pressure being generated when the circuit-breaker opens. In this way a high braking force with no impact is very rapidly obtained.

  • Patent number: 5561280
Abstract: A compressed gas-blast circuit breaker including a pump cylinder which is moved along with a movable first contact piece. The pump cylinder surrounds a pumping space and a blast chamber, the latter of which is fluidly connected to a first blast nozzle surrounding the first contact piece. A pump piston is supported on a fixed support part via toggle levers, and a toggle joint of the toggle levers is pivoted to a drive rod via a rocker. At the start of a switch-off stroke, an initial bent position of the toggle lever is lessened, intensified after the straightened position has been passed, then lessened again and intensified again after the straightened position has been passed once more. The oscillation of the toggle lever about the straightened position permits the pump piston to be virtually stationary, while an intermediate bottom, which separates the pumping space from the blast chamber, approaches the pump piston in order to reduce the pumping volume.

  • Patent number: 5248862
Abstract: In a gas-blast circuit breaker, compressed gas is directed through a movable contact maker into a blow-out space, the latter being delimited by a cylinder and a piston which is operatively associated with the movable contact maker. The piston comprises inlet openings which are releasably closed by means of a valve body. At a neck or collar of the piston there is displaceably mounted an actuating element, the latter being reciprocatingly movable between a lower first lock-in position and an upper second lock-in position. The actuating element comprises a nose or lug which, during the closing operation, abuts against an upper stop face or surface, whereby the actuating element is brought into the lower first lock-in position. The valve body thereby moves into the closed position thereof.
