  • Patent number: 10213980
Abstract: A lined pipe or fitting includes an outer layer containing high density polyethylene, and an inner layer containing a blend of poly(phenylene ether), polystyrene, and, optionally, a hydrogenated block copolymer. Relative to corresponding pipes and fittings made from high density polyethylene alone, the lined pipes and fittings exhibit improved resistance to chlorine and chlorine derivatives.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 2016
Date of Patent: February 26, 2019
    Assignee: SABIC GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES B.V.
Inventors: Christiaan Henricus Johannes Koevoets, Johannes Everardus Fortuijn, Biagio Banfi

  • Patent number: 5977240
Abstract: The present invention deals with a thermoplastic composition comprising (a) a compatibilized polyphenylene ether-polyamide base resin, and (b) 1-7 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of (a) of an electroconductive carbon black, with an Izod notched impact strength of more than 15 kJ/m.sup.2 and a volume resistivity of less than 10.sup.6 Ohm.cm.The compositions of the invention are suitable for molding objects which can easily be painted by an electrostatic coating process. The invention further provides a process for the preparation of the composition of the invention comprising at least two steps. In the first step the base resin is formed. In a further step the carbon black is incorporated in the base resin. The invention further relates to articles formed out of the composition of the invention and to such articles which have been painted by an electrostatic coating process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 1998
Date of Patent: November 2, 1999
    Assignee: General Electric Co.
Inventors: Johannes Hubertus Gabriel Marie Lohmeijer, Johannes Everardus Fortuijn, Jan Wagenaar
