  • Patent number: 6640860
Abstract: A vehicle pneumatic tire and a process of forming a vehicle pneumatic tire are disclosed, wherein the tire includes a patterned tread, a belt brace including at least one layer, bead areas having bead cores, and a carcass having at least one layer, which is arranged through the sidewalls, around the bead cores, and back into the sidewalls as turn-ups. The carcass, in a region between the belt binding point and the bead binding point, is formed with a length shorter than that of a theoretical carcass between the belt binding point and the bead binding points determined in accordance with an equilibrium figure. This abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 6439286
Abstract: Vehicular pneumatic tire having an asymmetric tread formed in relation to a circumference of a running surface and process of making vehicular pneumatic tire. The vehicular pneumatic tire includes an outside region that includes an outside shoulder block row and an outside circumferential groove, an inside region that includes an inside shoulder block row and an inside circumferential groove, and a center region that is laterally delimited by the outside circumferential groove and the inside circumferential groove. A plurality of transverse grooves are arranged within the inside shoulder block row, and the plurality of transverse grooves further are arranged to extend into the center region. No more than about one-half of the plurality of transverse grooves are arranged to at least nearly entirely traverse the center region and are oriented to form an angle to a circumferential equator line of no more than approximately 30° over at least one-third of their longitudinal extensions.

  • Patent number: 6439287
Abstract: Vehicular tire and process of making the same. The tire includes a carcass made of rubber, sidewalls, and tread. The carcass, in a sidewall region, includes at least one carcass ply having parallel textile reinforcements embedded in the rubber and two carcass ply ends, and the two carcass ply ends are arranged to overlap in a circumferential direction, thereby forming an overlapping point. A sidewall rubber strip is positioned to cover the carcass in the sidewall region, and a moiré pattern is formed on the sidewall rubber strip. The process includes circumferentially overlapping the two carcass ply ends of the carcass, thereby forming an overlapping region, covering the overlapping region on the outside with a sidewall rubber strip, and forming a moiré pattern on the sidewall rubber strip.

  • Patent number: 5964267
Abstract: A tread configuration for a vehicle tire, including at least two adjacent circumferentially oriented rows of profiled blocks. The rows are separated from one another by respective circumferential grooves. The base of each groove extends parallel to the circumferential direction. A respective side wall on each side of the base extends radially outwardly from the base and forms side walls of profiled blocks of an adjacent one of the rows of blocks. Radially outer end portions of the side walls of the grooves are essentially oriented in the circumferential direction and have their contour divided by a plurality of axially oriented offsets.
