Abstract: In a disc-record player which comprises a resiliently support subframe (5) which carries a turntable (6) and a read means (9) a loading device (14) for loading a disc (15) into the record player comprises a servo means (53) which comprises a plurality of control elements for controlling the movements of the loading device (14). An insertion control element (52) cooperates with a transfer device (17, 29) to guide the disc (15) towards the turntable (6). A lift control element (57c) cooperates with the transfer device (17, 29) to control the movement of the disc (15) towards the turntable (6). A clamping-member control element (71b, 72b) controls at least two clamping members (26) of the transfer device (17, 29) which members hold the disc (15) during loading, and causes the clamping members (26) to be disengaged from the disc after the disc has been lowered onto the turntable (6).

At least one holding element (5) can be moved out of a holding position by means of an adjusting element (4) to receive or to release the disc. The movable holding element is adjustable to at least two holding positions in order to hold discs of substantially different diameter.

The sub-frame (1) carries part including a turn-table (3) and a pivotal scanning arm (4) with a scanning element (6). The supporting elements (10) are connected to the sub-frame (1) by means of pivotal joint (20), the pivotal axis (21) of said pivotal joints (20) extending radially or substantially radially of the moss center (M) of the sub-frame (1) including the parts carried by this sub-frame.

Abstract: A disc holder (17; 139) for transferring a rigid disc (15) to a turntable (6) of a disc-record player by means of a loading device (14). The disc holder (17; 139) comprises clamping means constituted by at least two clamping members (26; 148) which are situated near two opposite sides of the disc holder and which are each connected to a coupling member (83; 146) which can be coupled to the loading device (14). The coupling members (83; 146) and clamping members (26; 148) can be moved away from each other to release the disc (15) from the disc holder (17; 139) and toward each other to retain the disc.
