  • Patent number: 11181071
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder bank comprising multiple cylinders, each cylinder comprises a rocker arm box for accommodating rocker arms of a valve train, and each cylinder comprises a rocker arm cover pivotable relative to the rocker arm box. The rocker arm cover carries an ignition coil contactable with a spark plug via an extension extending through a protective tube between the cylinder head and the rocker arm box or the rocker arm cover. The rocker arm cover comprises a first portion with a first introduction aid, into which the protective tube is threaded during closure of the rocker arm cover and a second portion with a second introduction aid, into which the spark plug extension is threaded during closure of the rocker arm cover to automatically and self-centringly form an electrical contact between the spark plug extension and the ignition coil.

  • Patent number: 7143693
Abstract: An erasing and cleaning apparatus for cylindrical surfaces including a cleaning cloth transporting device which can be packaged with a cleaning cloth in a cassette. The cassette is exchangeably inserted between side walls of a positioning unit, the positioning unit being connectable with a drive for driving transporter device. A lateral guide is arranged in a printing press and includes a carriage and a device for moving the positioning unit between a first position, in the which the transporter is moved onto the cylindrical surface to be cleaned, and an out-of-contact position, at which said cassette is laterally removable from the positioning unit. The erasing and cleaning apparatus further includes at least one coupling module for selectively coupling and decoupling a removable one of the sidewalls of the positioning unit to and from the cassette.

  • Patent number: 7017488
Abstract: An erasing and cleaning apparatus for cylinders an erasing and cleaning apparatus for cylindrical surfaces in a printing press includes a positioning unit with side walls and a cleaning cloth transport device arranged in said positioning unit and having a clean cloth roll, a wash roll, and a dirty cloth roll. An intermittently operated pneumatic or hydraulic linear drive having a stroke movement is connected to said cleaning cloth transport device for advancing a cleaning cloth off of the clean cloth roll, over the wash roll, and onto the dirty cloth roll. At least one of the sidewalls includes bearing elements for the clean cloth roll, the wash roll, and the dirty cloth roll. A gearwheel is connected to one of the bearing elements by one of a freewheeling and overrunning clutch for converting the stroke movement of the drive into a rotary movement.

  • Patent number: 5678486
Abstract: A gripper cylinder configurable as a printing cylinder of a sheet-fed printing machine, a feeder drum in a sheet-fed printing machine, or a gripper cylinder in a folder unit. The gripper cylinder includes a stationary stator and a gripper spindle assembly mounted to the cylinder. The gripper spindle assembly includes a gripper pivotably mounted to a gripper support. Instead of using a mechanical cam, the gripper can be controllably pivoted together with a cam roller by an armature that can be magnetized but is not permanently magnetic when an electric current flows through the stator thereby magnetizing a housing of the stator. The armature may be magnetically urged against the restoring force of a spring.

  • Patent number: 5644828
Abstract: A device for repairing a cylinder in a printing machine while the cylinder is installed in the printing machine. The device includes a cross slide rail having a base body with longitudinal guides, a longitudinal support slidably mounted on the longitudinal guides, and a transverse support connected to the longitudinal support. The cross slide rail is removably mounted to side walls of the printing machine so as to be parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cylinder to be repaired. A pull spindle is rotatably mounted to the base body and operatively connected to the longitudinal support so that the rotation of the pull spindle moves the longitudinal support along the longitudinal guides of the base body. A tool holder is connected to the transverse support for carrying a tool for working the cylinder. A mechanism for driving the cylinder is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5622111
Abstract: A form cylinder (1) for use in a printing machine including at least one cassette (40) and preferably multiple cassettes (40 to 43), each of which is removable from the form cylinder (1) through an opening (37) in a side wall (2). Each of the cassettes contains winding rollers (4) and a printing form extending between the winding rollers. The winding rollers are driven by an externally positioned driving device such as an electric motor (3) to wind and unwind the printing form. The winding rollers are connected to the driving device by a coupling (12) which is movable between an engaged position in which a shaft of each winding roller is connected to a shaft associated with the driving device and an unengaged position in which the winding rollers are not connected to the driving device.
