  • Patent number: 10495073
Abstract: A linear energy harvesting device that includes a housing and a piston that moves at least partially through the housing when it is compressed or extended from a rest position. When the piston moves, hydraulic fluid is pressurized and drives a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor drives an electric generator that produces electricity. Both the motor and generator are central to the device housing. Exemplary configurations are disclosed such as monotube, twin-tube, tri-tube and rotary based designs that each incorporates an integrated energy harvesting apparatus. By varying the electrical characteristics on an internal generator, the kinematic characteristics of the energy harvesting apparatus can be dynamically altered. In another mode, the apparatus can be used as an actuator to create linear movement.

  • Publication number: 20180360226
Abstract: In a method for preparing a mattress for storage or transport, a mattress is used in which an elastically deformable cushion structure and a support apparatus, adjustable by electric motor and having a dimensionally stable base body, are accommodated in a casing. The support apparatus has at least two support parts that are pivotable relative to one another. The mattress is introduced into an essentially gas-tight wrapping, and the wrapping is sealed essentially gas-tight, and a negative pressure is generated in the wrapping to achieve vacuum-induced compression of the cushion element of the mattress. In the compressed state of the cushion element or during the compression of the cushion structure, the support parts are folded together, and the casing is sealed essentially gas-tight so that the mattress in the compressed and folded-up state forms a compact storage and transport unit.
