  • Publication number: 20160101698
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling regenerative braking torque, which is produced by an electric machine of a vehicle operating in generator mode in a coasting operation mode of the vehicle, in an open-loop or closed-loop manner in accordance with need. The method detects, on the basis of a specified algorithm, an imminent situation in which the speed of a vehicle should be reduced to a speed lower than the current speed. The method outputs a recommendation directed at the driver to release the accelerator when the expected occurrence of such a situation has been detected. If the driver has released the accelerator, the method controls the regenerative braking torque in an open-loop or closed-loop manner in such a way that the vehicle achieves the lower speed without actuation of the service brake when the situation occurs, or, if this cannot be achieved solely via the recuperation torque, maximizes the vehicle deceleration that can be produced by regenerative braking.

  • Publication number: 20140100746
Abstract: A process and system is provided for anticipatory energy management in vehicles, including providing a driver with anticipatory driving style information. The system includes a sensor interface that acquires vehicle sensor data, a position interface that acquires position data of the vehicle, a storage module that stores an event databank, and an output unit that outputs information concerning an imminent driving event to the driver. A driving event is detected from the acquired position and sensor data, and is stored as an event dataset in the event databank, the driving event being associated with an event position. The system may also recognize from the acquired position data that the vehicle is driving on a current route that includes the event position, and may output information concerning the stored driving event from the output unit before the vehicle reaches the event position.

  • Patent number: 7489113
Abstract: An energy storage system for a motor vehicle is provided, including an electric machine, which can be operated at least as a generator, for generating a generator current; a vehicle electrical system battery, which is connected to the electric machine in parallel; a capacitor unit, which is connected to the electric machine in parallel; and a controller for controlling the electric machine. The controller is configured such that if the vehicle is in the boost or braking operating mode, the battery of the vehicle electrical system is charged with a maximum battery charging current, whereas in all other cases the battery of the vehicle electrical system is charged by a battery charging current that is adjusted as a function of the charge state of the battery of the vehicle electrical system. Therefore, in order to adjust the battery charging current as a function of the charge state of the battery of the vehicle electrical system, three different charge states are considered.
