  • Patent number: 7766223
Abstract: A method for providing mobile services, such as mobile financial services, includes providing a wireless handset or other device as an adjunct access device for a user account. The device is assigned a unique identification number, such as an MDN, MEID, or both. The unique identification number is associated with the account and in an exemplary embodiment, comprises at least a portion of the account number(s) with the service provider. Transactions are conducted with the handset access device and enhanced multi-factor and biometric security authentication may be provided. Handset voice, data, or other usage is settled and billed within the financial account. The service provider is able to download software, advertising, or content applications to the adjunct device and maintains the capability to disable the device. In a further aspect, a system for the execution of mobile transactions is provided.

  • Publication number: 20080058005
Abstract: A multiple mode, personal, wireless communications system exists within a radiotelephone network serving general customers and provides additional services to a select group of customers. The system uses handsets which automatically switch between a standard cellular radiotelephone mode of operation and an enhanced cordless mode when the handsets are within range of pico cells that are interconnected to the public switched telephone network. Each pico cell is controlled via a framework of overlay cells that operates independently of the radiotelephone network and uses a unique control protocol on a small number of reserved cellular channels. Each pico cell consists of a spectrally dynamic, non-capturing, frequency agile, multi-purpose base station provided at customer-selected locations to cooperate with the overlay cell framework. Each pico cell is capable of supporting multiple handsets and uses low power operation that achieves limited coverage.

  • Publication number: 20050026649
Abstract: A multiple mode, personal, wireless communications system is disclosed which exists within a radiotelephone network serving general customers and provides unique additional services to a select group of customers equipped with special handsets, without impacting the general customers. The special handsets automatically switch between and operate in either analog or digital mode with the standard radiotelephone network and in an enhanced cordless mode when within range of independent pico cells, that are interconnected with the public switched telephone network. Each of the network transparent pico cells is controlled via a framework of overlay cells that operate independently of the radiotelephone network and use a unique control protocol on a relatively small number of reserved channels, with a use hierarchy that is reversed with respect to standard radiotelephone channels.

  • Patent number: 5680164
Abstract: A refill system for ink cartridges. A refill unit is provided which includes a housing having a foam portion impregnated with ink. The foam portion includes a lower section extending outwardly from a lower panel. Positioned within the panel is an annular channel surrounding the lower section. The refill unit is positioned within an empty ink cartridge modified to include an annular seal member therein. The refill unit is inserted so that the channel receives the seal member. Upon insertion of the refill unit, the lower section of the foam member is engaged against an ink filter within the cartridge. Alternatively, the refill unit may include an enlarged lower section associated with the foam portion, with the annular channel being absent. This unit is used in cartridges which do not have the seal member. The enlarged lower section firmly engages the entire ink filter within the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5563449
Abstract: A multiple layer interconnect structure for a semiconductor chip includes a graded transition layer of tungsten and a Group VIII metal, such as palladium, platinum or nickel (Pd, Pt or Ni) which allows formation of a Group VIII metal interconnect on a conventional pad of Al or Al alloy. The graded transition layer is interfaced between a thin adhesion layer on the pad and the Group VIII metal interconnect, and is approximately 100% tungsten where it interfaces the adhesion layer and approximately 100% Group VIII metal where it interfaces the interconnect layer. The tungsten in the graded transition layer acts as a solder barrier and the Group VIII metal interconnect is compatible with the silicon substrate so that packaging processing steps, including lead soldering, can be carried out, and the chip electrically tested, in the semiconductor fabrication facility.

  • Patent number: 5510815
Abstract: In order to optimize print quality, it is desirable to minimize the distance between a inkjet printhead and the media that is being printed on. This reduces print quality degradation by stray drops of ink with different trajectories than the main drop and errors in the nominal trajectory of the main drop. Color inkjet printers commonly employ a plurality of print cartridges, usually either two or four, mounted in the printer carriage to produce a full spectrum of colors. In a multiple printhead printer, it is advantageous if the black print cartridge is closer to the print media when printing text than is the color cartridge when printing color graphics. The apparatus and method of this disclosure enables the black printhead in an inkjet printer with both black and color cartridges to be as close to the media as possible so that black text print quality will be optimized while also allowing the printing of color graphics.
