Publication number: 20230380099Abstract: Systems with multi-finger planar circuit boards for interconnecting multiple chassis are described. A system includes: (1) a first chassis arranged in a first plane, (2) a second chassis arranged in a second plane, and (3) a third chassis including a shared resource, arranged in a third plane between the first plane and the second plane. The system includes a planar circuit board (PCB) arranged in a fourth plane, orthogonal to the third plane. A first finger of the PCB, configured to provide a first physical path for an exchange of signals between the first chassis and shared resource, extends through a first gap between the first chassis and the third chassis. A second finger of the PCB, configured to provide a second physical path for an exchange of signals between the second chassis and third chassis, extends through a second gap between the second chassis and the shared resource.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2022Publication date: November 23, 2023Inventor: Wade John DOLL

Patent number: 9132872Abstract: A system for assembling a vehicle includes a first assembly line having a plurality of first stations, including a welding station for welding first structural components that define a vehicle body portion. The first structural components are formed of a first material. The second assembly line receives the vehicle body portion from the first assembly line and has a plurality of second stations, including a second welding station where a second structural component is secured to the first structural components. The second structural component is formed of the first material or a second material. The second assembly line is configured such that the second component is one of welded to the first components in the second welding station when the second component is formed of the first material and fastened to the first components in the second welding station when the second component is formed of the second material.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: John Doll, Rhett Chapman, Zach Olding, Kevin Comerford

Patent number: 7575048Abstract: A chemical dispensing apparatus includes a housing and a cartridge support within the housing. A rotating cartridge with chemical stick receptacles is rotatably supported about an axis of rotation by the cartridge support. An injection passage at the bottom of the housing permits chemical sticks to pass from the housing when one of the chemical stick receptacles is in a chemical dispensing position in axial alignment with the injection passage. A drive system rotates the rotating cartridge. The drive system includes a rotational stop biased into engagement with the rotating cartridge, and a pneumatic cylinder having first and second ends. The first end is stationary at a point off-axis from the axis of rotation of the cartridge. The second end has an engagement member, such that as the pneumatic cylinder extends, the engagement member applies a force to one of the chemical stick receptacles to selectively rotate the rotating cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2007Date of Patent: August 18, 2009Assignee: Jolt Energy Solutions Ltd.Inventors: Walter Hovelkamp, John Doll, Jr.

Patent number: 5550762Abstract: A device for quickly and accurately testing an electronic vehicle engine control module having a simulated signal generator for supplying simulated or "dummy" input signals to the module under test. These simulated signals correspond to signals normally generated by peripheral automotive components such as mass air flow sensors, throttle position sensors, oxygen sensors, and the like, in proper working order. A simulation program controls the simulated signal generator and causes the simulated signal generator to generate predetermined signals appropriate to the design of the module and specific to the simulated operating conditions under which the module is being tested. The simulation program also contains acceptable ranges of output values (that should be produced by a property operating module) corresponding to the simulated operating conditions defined by the simulation program.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1995Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Inventor: John A. Doll

Patent number: 5383357Abstract: A mass air flow sensor device for determining the mass of air flowing therethrough is operatively associated with an engine control module of an internal combustion engine which uses data corresponding to the mass of air flowing to the engine for controlling the operation of the engine for increased efficiency and lower exhaust emissions. The mass air flow sensor device includes a housing having an air flow-through housing comprising an electrically resistant air temperature sensing element at the air inlet end of the housing and an electrically resistant air heating element in the housing downstream of the air temperature sensing element. The resistor of the air temperature sensing element and the resistor of the air heating element are components of a common electrical circuit.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1993Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Inventor: John A.
