  • Patent number: 11248619
Abstract: Articles of manufacture, preferably pump component parts, and a method for making the articles, include providing a plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers in a stack of consecutive layers in a matrix of synthetic polymeric material. The reinforcing fibers of different layers are of corresponding different materials, and the layers are arranged such that the material of the reinforcing fibers in each layer is different from the material of the reinforcing fibers in the next consecutive layer. The layers are stitched together with further reinforcing fibers extending within the stack essentially perpendicular to the layers and interspersed throughout the stack. The stack is compressed and cured to establish a block having a plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers and further reinforcing fibers in a matrix of synthetic polymeric material. The block is machined to establish a prescribed configuration of a desired article.

  • Patent number: 11073212
Abstract: A split packing cartridge includes a sealing construct and a stabilizing bushing, and is installed in an apparatus directly upon a longitudinally extending shaft of the apparatus, along a site located intermediate opposite ends of the shaft, by assembling component parts of the packing cartridge upon the shaft, and placing of the assembly at the site, without the necessity for dismantling the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 10731645
Abstract: A stabilizing bushing is constructed of a structural composite including layers of reinforcing fibers in a matrix of synthetic polymeric material, and is inserted between a rotating shaft and a surrounding housing to stabilize the shaft against unwanted radial displacement while rotating within the housing. A plurality of circumferential grooves in the bushing effect a reduction in fluid pressure between one end of the bushing exposed to higher fluid pressures than to which the opposite end of the bushing is exposed. The bushing is constructed in the form of circumferential segments selectively joined together at Z-shaped joints for facilitating the insertion and establishment of a securely integrated stabilizing bushing in position around the shaft.

  • Patent number: 8780542
Abstract: An electrical energy generation device includes an energy conversion device thermally coupled to an electrical component and configured to convert thermal energy produced by the electrical component to mechanical motion. An electricity generation device is coupled to the energy conversion device and is configured to convert the mechanical motion to electrical energy. At least a portion of the electrical energy energizes the electrical component.

  • Patent number: 7424785
Abstract: Described is a label cassette for mounting to the front side of an enclosure and for holding and displaying a label used to identify a configuration of that enclosure. The label cassette includes a transparent cover, a tray, and a hinge mechanism. The tray has a pair of guide rails for engaging respective guide structures on the enclosure to align the label cassette for attachment to the enclosure, a capture mechanism to secure the label cassette to the enclosure, and a label surface to hold a label. The hinge mechanism attaches the transparent cover to the tray and permits rotation about an axis parallel to the back edge of the transparent cover. Mounted to a ledge that extends from the front of the enclosure, the label cassette does not occupy vertical space or interfere with connectors, cables, or airflow vents on the front of the enclosure.
