  • Patent number: 5690120
Abstract: A hybrid catheter guide wire includes an elongate solid body having a tapered distal end over which is disposed a tubular section-about which a catheter may be threaded for guidance to a target location in a vasculature passageway of a body. Cuts are formed either by saw-cutting, laser cutting or etching at spaced-apart locations along at least a portion of the tubular section to increase its lateral flexibility, while maintaining its rotational torquability, and to control the direction and degree of flexure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 24, 1996
Date of Patent: November 25, 1997
    Assignee: Sarcos, Inc.
Inventors: Stephen C. Jacobsen, Clark Davis, John Lippert
  • Patent number: 4731696
Abstract: A capacitor is described having a very low voltage coefficient of capacitance and a relatively large capacitance per unit area. A process is detailed for forming such a capacitor on an IC. The process is fully compatible with conventional IC processing and does not add substantially to the number of steps.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 26, 1987
Date of Patent: March 15, 1988
    Assignee: National Semiconductor Corporation
Inventors: Peter G. Himes, John A. Lippert
  • Patent number: 4628405
Abstract: A refractory metal or a refractory metal silicide is applied to a monolithic IC where capacitors are desired and then covered with an amorphous silicon coating. The coating protects the capacitor metal or silicide during IC fabrication. The capacitor dielectric is created by oxidizing the protective coating, leaving the interface continuous and free of native oxides and trapping states. The result is a capacitor that has a very low voltage coefficient of capacitance.
