  • Patent number: 5850933
Abstract: A vehicle fuel tank is made from a plastic molding process in which various models of the tank are required with differently oriented fuel filler necks. One of the mold halves for the tank is provided with a mold insert over that portion of the mold half which forms the fuel filler neck. Different mold inserts are provided each one of which provides a differently oriented version of the fuel filler neck. Different models of the tank are molded with different mold inserts in place such that each tank has an integrally molded fuel filler neck oriented in the proper manner. In addition, a through pocket is integrally molded into the tank between the sides of the tank to form a transverse baffle for preventing fuel from sloshing from one side of the tank to the other.

  • Patent number: 5197308
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved vehicle security device of the steering lock type for use on the steering wheel of a moveable vehicle, such as an automobile, truck, boat or the like. The steering lock device is of the type having two separable bar sections locked together to form an elongated locking bar that extends beyond the rim of the steering wheel to prevent the steering wheel from being significantly turned. The current invention comprises such a device with an improved attachment for preventing the device from being lifted off the steering wheel. In one embodiment, a double forked end is provided on each bar section formed by two downwardly extending forked tines that extend beneath an overlying section of the bar section. The double forks are located in a position to engage against the rim of the steering wheel with each fork being located on opposite sides of a reinforcing member that is part of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 5022679
Abstract: An improved saddle tank for a car fits into the space between the splash apron and a frame member of the car. The saddle tank includes at least one attachment bracket having bolt holes which may be aligned with the bolt holes in a running board bracket. Thus, the fasteners for the running board bracket also pass through the holes in the attachment bracket to hold the tank against the frame member when the attachment bracket is interposed between the frame member and the running board bracket. In addition, the tank is sized so that its top surface lies closer to the top of the frame member than prior art tanks to maximize tank capacity.
