  • Publication number: 20240122526
Abstract: The technology involves scaffold structures used for in-ear sensor systems. Such systems that can perform biometric signal detection or act as a human-computer interface. Scaffolding arrangements minimize the amount of material placed in the ear while providing a secure fitting device that can be worn for hours, days or longer in order to provide maximal benefit to the wearer. The scaffolding includes a ā€œCā€-shaped arcuate curvature for at least part of the housing. This configuration can act as a natural leaf spring to help maintain the housing in contact with different points along the ear. Sensors are located along various points of the scaffolding for use in different diagnostic situations. Different components of an on-board sensor input and processing system can be distributed along different parts of the scaffolding. Such structures beneficially minimize ambient sound occlusion and avoid the need of an exterior strap or clip worn around the ear.

  • Patent number: 11928772
Abstract: In a ray tracer, to prevent any long-running query from hanging the graphics processing unit, a traversal coprocessor provides a preemption mechanism that will allow rays to stop processing or time out early. The example non-limiting implementations described herein provide such a preemption mechanism, including a forward progress guarantee, and additional programmable timeout options that can be time or cycle based. Those programmable options provide a means for quality of service timing guarantees for applications such as virtual reality (VR) that have strict timing requirements.

  • Publication number: 20240006430
Abstract: An image sensor having a set of pixels making up the image sensor to capture an image. Two or more pixels in the set of pixels each have an architecture that includes multiple photodiodes configurable to form an individual pixel. A control system can cooperate with the multiple photodiodes to form the individual pixel. Each of the multiple photodiodes can have a transfer gate electrically coupled to that photodiode. A common region can hold or transfer charge at least during or after an integration time. A read gate electrically coupled to the common region and a sense node, can supply charge from the common region through the read gate to the sense node.

  • Publication number: 20230208322
Abstract: A fabrication process is disclosed for the production of flexible triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) fiber, which can comprise a copper core surrounded by a silicone cladding. The TENG fibers are fabricated using a coaxial micro-extrusion process that enables 2D and 3D constructs to be fabricated with the fibers via 3D printing on both stationary and moving substrates to form mechanosensors as membranes, meshes, and hollow 3D structures. The mechanosensors can be integrated into wearable items for human activity monitoring, or can be formed on organs for organ monitoring, e.g., monitoring of perfused organs. The mechanosensors can be integrated into facemasks and uses for silent speech recognition, such as words mouthed in the absence of sound production by the speaker. The mechanosensors are self-powered and have high stretchability.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to an electronic home plate system that includes a home plate enclosure and at least one image sensor system disposed within the enclosure, each image sensor system including an image sensor, a lens and a first processor. The first processor is adapted to detect a motion of a ball by continuously capturing frames from the image sensor. The detecting motion includes capturing a first frame, capturing a second frame, subtracting the first frame from the second frame to create an image, and checking for pixel changes between the first frame and the second frame. The detected motion of the ball includes the ball passing over the home plate enclosure or the ball passing near and not over the home plate enclosure.
