  • Patent number: 11697702
Abstract: The present disclosure provides to a novel flame retardant resin, wherein the resin is a reaction product of an epoxy material, a curing agent, and a partially esterified tannic acid of formula I, wherein TA represents a tannic acid moiety, R1 represents an optionally substituted C1-C6 straight or branched alkyl, an optionally substituted C3-C6 cyclic ring, an optionally substituted phenyl group, or any combination thereof, and n is 2-10.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 2021
Date of Patent: July 11, 2023
    Assignee: Purdue Research Foundation
Inventors: Jeffrey Paul Youngblood, Matthew Korey, John Alan Howarter, Natalie Burgos
  • Publication number: 20230173437
Abstract: The separations membrane system includes a substrate, a microporous layer, and a selective layer. The microporous layer may be disposed over the substrate. The selective layer may be disposed over the microporous layer, thereby sandwiching the microporous layer between the selective layer and the substrate. The microporous layer includes a thermoplastic material. The selective layer includes a polyamide structure of 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine and/or 1,3,5-Benzenetricarbonyl chloride.

Inventors: John Alan Howarter, Michael D. Toomey, Logan Kearney
  • Patent number: 11486530
Abstract: Methods and systems for treating emissions during a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) closed molding process in which a resin-impregnated fibrous material is placed within an existing fluid conduit and cured in situ to seal an opening in the conduit. Such a method includes capturing multi-phase emissions released by a resin-impregnated fibrous material during curing thereof in a CIPP process, accumulating the multi-phase emissions, condensing at least a water portion of the multi-phase emissions, and treating vapor constituents of the multi-phase emissions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 18, 2018
Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignee: Purdue Research Foundation
Inventors: Andrew James Whelton, John Alan Howarter, Brandon Emil Boor, Seyedeh Mahboobeh Teimouri Sendesi, Emily Conkling
