  • Publication number: 20230213434
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for detecting the erosion and corrosion effects of solids during oil and/or gas production. An erosion corrosion detector (BCD) is positioned in fluid communication with a pipe in a production facility such that a sensor element of the BCD contacts at least a partial stream of produced fluid in the pipe. Changes in one or more physical measurement of the BCD and/or changes in pressure drop across the sensor element are monitored over time. The changes are interpreted to identify whether there is loss of materials (e.g., metal) in the production facility, quantify of this loss, and determine the mechanisms through which this loss is occurring. A control system can receive the change in the physical measurement and/or the pressure drop over time as input into a control strategy for controlling a well control valve to control a rate of production of well fluids.

  • Publication number: 20210372266
Abstract: A system for measuring a porosity of a gravel pack in a wellbore includes a transmitting acoustic transducer attached to a sand screen and configured to transmit an acoustic signal. The system further includes multiple acoustic transducers attached to the sand screen and configured to receive the acoustic signal through the gravel pack. The system also includes a control device configured to receive electrical signals from the multiple acoustic transducers and determine the porosity of the gravel pack around the sand screen based on at least the electrical signals. The electrical signals are generated from the acoustic signal received by the multiple acoustic transducers.

  • Publication number: 20170362922
Abstract: A sand control screen assembly having a filter medium that provides a controlled offset between a shroud and the filter medium, and/or between a base pipe and the filter medium. The sand control screen assembly may also include a drainage layer positioned about the base pipe. The sand control screen assembly is utilized for preventing the flow of particulate material of a predetermined size therethrough and allowing the flow of production fluids therethrough.

  • Patent number: 9359886
Abstract: This disclosure relates to systems and methods associated with a replenishable receptacle for tagger and/or tracer material in a wellbore. The system may include a receptacle configured to contain tracer material and release tracer material into fluid flowing in a wellbore responsive to the fluid flowing adjacent to the receptacle. The tracer material includes a distinctive element or chemical configured to facilitate determining information associated with movement of fluid in the wellbore. A rate of the release of the tracer material may be related to a rate of flow of the fluid in the wellbore. The receptacle may be further configured to be refilled with tracer material responsive to the tracer material contained by the receptacle being depleted. Refilling the receptacle may be performed via one or more of a wireline, a coiled tubing, a tractor, a robot, a work-string and/or tubing from a light intervention vessel, and/or other approaches.
