  • Patent number: 9371971
Abstract: This invention is a removable flashlight insert for fitting into an oil-type cigarette lighter outer case. The flashlight insert contains an LED lamp module with a movable switch element and a battery module contained within a top chamber and a bottom chamber respectively of an outside metal shell. The outside metal shell provides a direct conduction path between a battery terminal in the bottom chamber and the movable switch element in the top chamber. The flashlight insert may contain two different LEDs, where either of the two LEDs may be user selected by a separate switch. A rechargeable flashlight insert is also shown having an electronic circuit contained inside the outer metal shell. Lamp and battery modules are also provided in a kit to transform an oil-type cigarette lighter insert into a flashlight insert.

  • Patent number: 8941306
Abstract: This invention is a night light assembly containing a multiple LED light source and an electronic controller whereby the electronic controller causes the multiple LED light source to continually change its light output from a high intensity photopic light output to a low intensity scotopic light output in response to a transition from light to dark of an ambient light, matching a human eye response to a sudden decrease in ambient light.

  • Publication number: 20130169169
Abstract: This invention relates to assemblies used as night lights and contains certain embodiments that improve, add features, and/or lower the cost of the type of momentary night light defined by U.S. Pat. No. 7,253,570. These embodiments include multiple and supplemental light sources that enhance the performance of certain types of night lights, enabling better user night-vision and more efficient use of energy sources by the night light assemblies. Other embodiments include actuation of momentary night lights by remote control and the integration of momentary night lights and night lights into other products. The words “momentary night light assembly” as used in this invention means a light that remains lit for only a short fixed period of time following a transition from light to dark of the local ambient light. It then turns itself off after a short time period until another light to dark transition occurs.

  • Publication number: 20090034246
Abstract: Oil-type cigarette lighters are converted to small flashlights by utilizing the lighter insert sub-assembly to house a LED module and a battery module. These modules are connected together by an insulated wire passing through the wick hole of the insert sub-assembly and a switch that contacts the hinge side of the lighter outer case lid.

  • Patent number: 7253570
Abstract: A secondary light assembly emits light into an area lit by a primary light source. The secondary light assembly includes a light sensor for sensing light emitted from the primary light source. A secondary light source is operatively connected to the light sensor. A controller is electrically connected to the light sensor and the secondary light source. The controller calculates a rate of change of light emission from the primary light source such that the controller turns the secondary light source on when the rate of change of light emission from the primary light source is above a predetermined rate threshold.
