  • Patent number: 11921789
Abstract: An apparatus and method for training a search engine generates synthetic search arguments and target information that are provided to the search engine as training. A search argument simulator ingests product information and historical interaction data, determines relevant descriptors, creates compound descriptors, and creates candidate search arguments. A trainer checks the candidates against historical search arguments, identifies similar search arguments and determines likely search arguments that are used for training. An evaluator monitors search engine responses and triggers retraining of the search engine.

  • Patent number: 8483963
Abstract: A method of modeling the spatial variation in wind resource at a prospective wind farm site. The method involves calculating terrain exposure at multiple locations of interest, such as the locations of meteorological towers and prospective wind turbine locations. Measured average wind speeds from the meteorological tower locations are empirically correlated with terrain exposure to create a model wherein annual average wind speed can be calculated for any location on the site as a function of terrain exposure. The method can use upwind terrain exposure, downwind terrain exposure, or both. It can also be used together with terrain elevation to create a robust three parameter model. The method requires wind measurements from at least two meteorological towers, with improved performance when measurements are available from a larger number of meteorological towers.

  • Patent number: 7375940
Abstract: A transformer interface prevents a false ground fault interrupt in a power supply arrangement. The power supply arrangement has a line wire and a neutral wire connected by way of a ground fault interrupt circuit to an electrically powered device, to which a ground wire is also coupled. The interface has current imbalance sensor transformer windings coupled to the line and neutral wires. A ground wire current sensor transformer winding is coupled to the ground wire. A detector transformer winding produces a signal that triggers operation of the ground fault interrupt circuit, in response to the difference between currents produced by the current imbalance sensor transformer windings exceeding detected ground wire current by a prescribed value.

  • Patent number: 6949889
Abstract: A current-regulating driver circuit for a light emitting diode (LED) maintains energization drive to and thereby illumination provided by the LED at a prescribed, substantially constant value, over a relatively wide range of input (AC or DC) voltage. First and second input nodes are coupled to a source of AC or DC voltage and to a load, powered by the source of AC or DC voltage. An input rectifying diode is coupled to the first input node. A controlled current flow element is coupled in a first current flow path between the input rectifying diode and the LED and is controllably operative to supply current for illuminating the LED.

  • Publication number: 20040039933
Abstract: An electronic document legal discovery apparatus, system, method, and computer program product enables electronic document access, searching, filtering, virus checking, de-duplication, de-encoding/decrypting, page estimation, and time stamping. A processor is used to perform these various steps so as to provide an estimate of page count that would be produced from a printer if the data, after de-duplication, etc. is performed.

  • Patent number: 6188720
Abstract: The communication system has a first modem having a digital port for communicating a first data block in a first format between a first transmission channel and the digital port and a second modem having a digital port for communicating a second data block in a second format between a second transmission channel and the digital port. The first data block has a header block and a message block. The controller/processing device comprises a first interface means, a second interface means and a conversion means. The first interface means is adapted for receiving the first data block in the first format from the first digital port. The conversion means is coupled to the first interface means. The conversion means converts the first data block in the first format to the second data block in the second format. The second interface means is coupled to the conversion means. The second interface means is adapted for sending the second data block in the second format to the second digital port.

  • Patent number: 5881096
Abstract: There is disclosed in a frequency hopping digital communications system having a transmitter for transmitting a data signal via a noisy transmission path, and a receiver responsive to the transmitted signal for receiving the same, a method for removing bias in the data signal at the receiver comprising the steps of: forming a sample amplitude histogram from the received data signal samples for a given hop frequency; correlating the amplitude histogram against a stored reference amplitude histogram to obtain a correlated output signal having a peak correlation position; determining the position difference between the peak correlation position and the correlation center position to provide an offset signal corresponding to the difference and indicative of an estimated bias offset value; and applying the estimated bias offset value to the received signal samples in response to the offset signal to obtain an output signal indicative of an unbiased received data signal.

  • Patent number: 5150410
Abstract: A secure narrowband digital conferencing system is capable of handing multiple speakers simultaneously and in a full duplex mode. The system uses a multipulse or a code-excited linear predictive (CELP) speech processing algorithm for colding the speech signals of the respective participants. A conference director receives the multipluse or CELP encrypted voice signal streams over normal telephone links, decrypts them, then synthesizes a composite speech signal and uses an analysis-by-synthesis algorithm to compress them, and then encrypts the composite signal and transmits it back to all the participants.

  • Patent number: 4890327
Abstract: An analog to digital converter for a speech signal is implemented in modules to allow for changes in bit rate and changes in bit stream length according to requirements of the digital transmission system. A pre-emphasis circuit provides an array of pre-emphasized speech samples which are stored in memory. A linear predictive coder provides an array of reflection coefficients and an array of filter coefficients. A pulse processor receives the speech samples and filter coefficients and generates speech amplitude and location signals. These signals are multiplied to generate quantized speech samples. The quantized speech samples and reflection coefficients are provided to a buffer which provides an output signal of a proper bit stream length and bit rate for the digital transmission system.

  • Patent number: 4612625
Abstract: A decimator of the type having a decimation factor of K, is implemented by a finite impulse response (FIR) filter network of length N. The filter network includes N/K accumulators each of which arithmetically combines samples of an input signal as multiplied by a corresponding set of K network branches, and provides a corresponding output sample. The N/K output samples from the accumulators are provided sequentially at the filter output prior to arrival of the next set of N input signal samples at the filter input.
