  • Patent number: 10579123
Abstract: A method and a management server located in the cloud, for enabling adaptive power management in a gateway system, are described. The management server receives, from the gateway system powered by a rechargeable battery that is coupled with a solar power source, a location measurement indicating the location of the gateway system at a first time. The management server determines a solar profile indicating a measure of the power expected to be generated by the solar power source at the location during an interval of time that occurs after the first time. The management server transmits the solar profile to the gateway system causing the gateway system to determine based on a current battery level of the rechargeable battery and the solar profile an optimal power usage plan for the gateway system and to operate according to the optimal power usage plan during the interval of time.

  • Publication number: 20190327613
Abstract: A set of certificates are received at a gateway device from a management server, where each one of the certificates was generated by the management server upon determination that the gateway device is associated with a respective wireless sensing device (WSD). The gateway device receives from a first WSD an advertisement message indicating it is available for connecting to a gateway device. In response to confirming based on a first certificate of the set of certificates associated with the first WSD, that it is authorized to connect to the WSD, the gateway device transmits to the first WSD the first certificate and an identifier of the gateway device for enabling authentication of the gateway device at the WSD. The gateway device receives data from the first WSD, upon confirmation at the WSD that it is authorized to connect with the gateway device.

  • Patent number: 10454984
Abstract: A system for streaming packet captures over the Internet includes multiple network access devices, each operating as one of a gateway device, a wireless access point, and a network switch, and a management server communicatively coupled to the network access devices over the Internet for managing the network access devices. The management server maintains a persistent hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) connection with each of the network access devices over the Internet. The management server is to generate a bytecode based on a filtering expression for packet captures (PCAPs) representing one or more PCAPs filtering rules, transmit the bytecode to the network access devices without requiring the network access devices to compile the PCAPs filtering rules, receive PCAPs from the network access devices captured by the network access devices based on the PCAPs filtering rules, and merge the PCAPs received from the network access devices into merged PCAPs.

  • Publication number: 20190238418
Abstract: A management server includes a configuration and management module processing server configuration information, including a VPN peer list and VLAN/subnet settings. The management server automatically calculates the VPN configuration information, including the VPN peer subnet route information identifying which of the subnets participating in the VPN are behind which of the routers and keys to establish VPN tunnels between those routers participating in the VPN. Each of the routers participating in the VPN includes a VPN tunnel with the other routers participating in the VPN, a set of data structures storing data identifying contact information for each of the subnets participating in the VPN, a combination of an IP address and port to reach one of routers that that subnet is behind, and a forwarding module to forward traffic between the subnets.

  • Patent number: 10206107
Abstract: Methods and systems for secure data offload in a sensor network. The method comprises offloading data indicative of sensor measurements from a wireless sensing device to a gateway device through a first secure communication channel; and storing the data at the gateway device if there is not currently a second secure communication channel established between the gateway device and the management server. The method continues with offloading the data to the management server when the second secure communication channel is established; and reconciling the data at the management server to generate reconciled sensor measurements in which duplicates have been removed.

  • Patent number: 10196071
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically monitoring driving behavior of a driver of a vehicle, are described. Information pertaining to one or more loads to be transported by vehicles is received. One or more first driving behavior parameter thresholds are determined based at least in part on a first fragility indicator of a load to be transported by the vehicle during a first portion of a route. The first fragility indicator is determined at least in part based on the information pertaining to the one or more loads. The driving behavior of the driver of the vehicle is caused to be monitored during the first portion of the route based on the one or more first driving behavior parameter thresholds.

  • Patent number: 10173486
Abstract: A method and a management server for automatically deducing a trailer is physically coupled with a vehicle are described. First location data including locations for the vehicle is received, from a first gateway device located on the vehicle. Second location data are received from second gateway devices, where each one of the second gateway devices is on a respective trailer from a set of trailers and each second location data includes locations for the respective trailer. For each trailer that meet a set of criteria, a score is calculated based at least in part on the first location data and the second location data of the trailer, where the score estimates a measure of association of the trailer with the vehicle. A first trailer is selected, based on the scores of the trailers, to be associated with the vehicle indicating that the first trailer is physically coupled with the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10110714
Abstract: A network access device (NAD) receives a UDP packet from a client to be transmitted to a management server over Internet, the UDP packet including a management message. The NAD is one of NADs managed by the management server. The NAD determines whether the management server is reachable using a UDP protocol. The NAD transmits the UDP packet to the management server using the UDP protocol over the Internet if it is determined that the management server is reachable using the UDP protocol. Otherwise, the NAD extracts a UDP payload from the UDP packet, encapsulates the UDP payload within an HTTP POST request, and transmits the HTTP POST request having the UDP payload encapsulated therein to the management server using a HTTP protocol over the Internet.

  • Patent number: 10102495
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically determining that delivery of an untagged item occurred are described. Data is received, from a gateway device located on a vehicle on which the untagged item is transported, where the data includes data collected by the gateway device from a set of devices external to the gateway device. A determination of whether the vehicle stopped is performed based on a first part of the data pertaining to the movement of the vehicle. Automatic determination of whether offload of cargo from the vehicle occurred, is performed based on a second part of the data, which is consistent with activity indicative of the offload of cargo from the vehicle as opposed to data collected based on a tag on an item. Responsive to determining that the offload of cargo from the vehicle occurred, a report including information to be used as proof of delivery is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 10085149
Abstract: A method in a wireless sensing device for authenticating a gateway device of a sensor network is described. The method includes receiving a certificate where the certificate was generated by the management server upon a determination that the gateway device and the wireless sensing device are associated and is a digital document including data and a digital signature, where the digital signature was generated by the management server based on the data and a private key of the management server, and where the data includes a first identifier and a second identifier; confirming that the wireless sensing device is authorized to upload data to the gateway device; in response to the confirming that the wireless sensing device is authorized to upload data to the gateway device, uploading to the gateway device data indicative of a plurality of sensor measurements taken over time to be transmitted to the management server.
