  • Publication number: 20140001721
Abstract: A transfer cart primarily designed for the beverage distribution industry permits the operator or driver to work at waist level when loading or unloading. The cart includes a lift plate mounted on a vertically movable carriage with a parallel pair of gas springs urging the plate to an elevated position so that the lift plate lowers or rises as weight is added or removed, respectively. The angle of the plate may be adjusted and folds out of the way when not in use to be held with a magnetic latch. The cart is designed for ergonomic transportation of both cases and kegs.

  • Patent number: 7645108
Abstract: A cart includes a projecting load receiving platform mounted on a slide frame in turn mounted for vertical movement on a main frame. A spring mechanism urges the slide frame and platform to an elevated position so that objects may be stacked on the platform without placing them on the floor. As the weight of the stack on the platform increases the platform starts to descend until the cart is full. Conversely as items are removed from the top of the stack the platform elevates so the operator doesn't have to pick up an object from the floor. The spring mechanism uses a plurality of air springs each with a different load rating and operating in a cascading fashion. A pivoting weight operated latch holds the platform in its bottom position until released by a kick plate.

  • Patent number: 5709050
Abstract: A staging area for an elevated mezzanine or platform includes side railings and elevated center stanchions providing a pivot for a gate assembly alternately closing the ends of the side railings enclosing at all time at least three sides of the staging area. The two gates of the assembly extend at right angles to each other and when one is vertical and down, the other is horizontal and up. The main side frames of the gate assembly are M-shape with splayed legs, and the assembly is pivoted to the tops of the stanchions at the vertex of the center V of the M.

  • Patent number: 5027922
Abstract: A vertically movable safety railing system for providing a safety railing enclosed area on top of mobile equipment such as railroad tank cars, tank trucks, and the like, characterized by an elevated stationary platform and a safety railing assembly mounted relative to the platform. The safety railing assembly includes a vertically movable mast, a cantilever arm attached to the mast, a vertical movement unit and an open-bottomed safety railing cage secured to the arm. The vertical movement unit includes either a pneumatic or electric motor operated jack, or alternatively a hydraulic piston-cylinder assembly. These vertical movement units act as means for vertically moving the mast relative to the structural member or platform between an elevated position where the safety railing cage is elevated above the mobile equipment and a lower position where the safety railing frame substantially contacts the equipment, enclosing a portion of the top of the equipment to provide a safety railing enclosed area.

  • Patent number: 4699119
Abstract: A heater cabinet which utilizes a source of steam heat to elevate to a predetermined working temperature various industrial containers and the contents thereof. Containers suitable for use with the heater cabinet include barrels, drums, pails, nondisposable and disposable liquibins, and the like. In a preferred embodiment the cabinet includes a plurality of insulated walls which define an enclosure. Access to the enclosure is provided by a pair of swinging doors hinged to the front wall of the cabinet. Mounted near the bottom of the enclosure is an open grate for supporting containers placed within the enclosure for heating. Beneath the grate and contiguous therewith is a steam coil for connection to a source of steam which imparts heat into the enclosure. Below the steam coil is a drip pan for collecting and containing any spillage or drippage which may inadvertently flow from the container.

  • Patent number: 4572328
Abstract: This invention relates to a platform and more particularly to a vertically adjustable safety platform assembly for obtaining safety railing enclosed access to the tops of mobile equipment of various heights such as tank trucks and railroad tank and hopper cars. The assembly includes an elevated platform portion for obtaining access to the tops of mobile equipment, and a ladder for obtaining access to the platform. The platform is mounted on a column on guide rails, such platform being power driven by controls either from below or from the platform. The platform includes safety railings along the perimeter of the platform which extend beyond the perimeter so that when the platform is positioned on top of the mobile equipment a safety railing enclosure is provided.
