Publication number: 20240151092Abstract: A vehicle includes a cabin interior, a powered door having an actuator for moving the door between closed and open positions, interior sensors sensing position or movement of an occupant in the cabin interior, and exterior sensors sensing a passerby proximate to the vehicle. The vehicle includes a controller determining an occupant intending to exit the vehicle via the door based on the interior sensors and determining a passerby passing by the door in an open position using the at least one exterior sensors. The controller controls the actuator to open the door when the occupant is intended to exit the vehicle and at least partially closes the door when a passerby is detected passing by the vehicle door and an occupant is determined not to be exiting the vehicle. The controller controls the actuator to open the door further when the passerby is determined to pass by the door.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2022Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Brendan Diamond, Keith Weston, Stuart C. Patent number: 11964693Abstract: A vehicle having park assist includes a plurality of powered closure doors, each door having an actuator for moving the door between closed and open positions, a plurality of sensors located on the vehicle for sensing objects relative to the vehicle and generating sensed signals indicative of the sensed objects, and a transceiver for communicating with a parked vehicle. The vehicle also includes a controller processing the sensed signals, determining a distance and location of the sensed objects relative to the doors, and determining a parking location for the vehicle in a garage where the closure doors are free from contact with an object in the garage when in an open position and are free of contact with powered closure doors on the parked vehicle. An output is provided to assist a driver of the vehicle to park the vehicle in the garage in the determined parking location.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2021Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Stuart C. Patent number: 11932200Abstract: A vehicle includes a powered door having an actuator to move the door between open and closed positions, a transceiver configured to communicate with one or more mobile devices, and an imaging device oriented to capture images in a region proximate to the powered door. A controller processes the captured images and controls the actuator to move the door to the open position when a mobile device is detected proximate the vehicle and a user is detected in the captured images located in a door detection zone. The controller moves the door to the open position when a face of a user is recognized as an authorized user located in the door detection zone. The controller moves the door to the open position when a gait of the user is detected and identifies the gait are indicative of an authorized user located in the door detection zone.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: John Robert Van Wiemeersch, Lawrence Amadi, Stuart C. Patent number: 11297804Abstract: The storm proof bird feeder may comprise a feed dispensing tube, a feeding plate, a floating collar, and a seed reservoir. The storm proof bird feeder may be a feeding station adapted to feed birds. The feed dispensing tube may dispense bird seed from the seed reservoir onto the feeding plate from whence the bird seed may be consumed. A gap height of a seed gap between the bottom of the feed dispensing tube and the feeding plate may be adjustable such that the gap height may be changed in correlation with the size of the bird seed being dispensed. The adjustment of the gap height and the use of the floating collar surrounding the feed dispensing tube may improve the operation of the storm proof bird feeder in adverse weather conditions.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2020Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Inventor: John C. Patent number: 5003759Abstract: A brush mower head adapted to be carried by an articulating crane comprises:(1) a casing, adapted to be mounted to a crane(2) a motor carried by the casing, and(3) a drum with a center shaft mounted for rotation in the casing and powered by the motor, the axis for rotation in the drum in use being generally parallel to the ground. The drum is a cylinder having a length at least twice its diameter and has at least two hammer shafts running end to end parallel to the axis of rotation and being in balanced relationship one to another to minimize rotational imbalance of the drum. Hammers are mounted on the hammer shafts for free rotation thereabout in each of said wells. The hammers when the drum is rotating for mowing protrude by a centrifugal force beyond the surface of the cylinder and present a cutting edge to the brush being engaged.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1989Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Assignee: JCB Leasing Corp.Inventor: John C.
