Embodiments of the invention may include encrypting data a first time, packetizing the data, encrypting the data a second time and transmitting the data. Encryption may occur at a data link layer and an Internet Protocol layer. Packetized, twice encrypted data may be transmitted over a network, such as, for example, the Internet. The system may include a first computer system containing data for transmission, a first interface device that receives data from the first computer system, a second interface device that receives data from the first interface device, and a second computer system that receives data from the second interface device.
