  • Patent number: 8282088
Abstract: An apparatus for securing a workpiece is provided. In one form, the apparatus is configured such that the clamping jaws of the apparatus lie flush against the workpiece and the pressure from the pressure application mechanism is distributed substantially equally over the surface of the workpiece in contact with the jaws of the apparatus. Additionally, the apparatus is provided with a brake mechanism which allows at least one of the clamping jaw members to be secured in a desired position on the elongated member without having to tilt the jaw member connected thereto. In another form, the apparatus may have two brake release mechanisms to account for the various positions the apparatus may be placed in with respect to a workpiece. The apparatus may also have mating structures which allow the apparatus to be connected to a work surface. In addition, the apparatus may also include a pivoting pressure application member handle to assist the user in applying or removing pressure to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 8234959
Abstract: A table saw fence includes a clamping member at both the front and rear of the fence to provide substantial clamping power and accuracy. The fence includes an interior cavity housing a linkage mechanism that engages the front and rear clamps through the actuation of a single handle. Furthermore, the fence includes an opening leading to the interior cavity, thereby permitting the blade, riving knife, blade guard, and any other blade accessories to extend within the interior cavity when the fence is used in a blade cover configuration.

  • Publication number: 20100147127
Abstract: A combination table-miter saw includes a base, a support arm rotatable relative to the base and configured to support a cutting tool and a platform coupled to the support arm and moveable relative to the base between a first position, wherein the combination table-miter saw functions as a miter saw, and a second position, wherein the combination table-miter saw functions a table saw. The combination table-miter saw further includes an illumination device supported at an underside of the platform for illuminating the base when the platform is in the first position. The illumination device includes a housing movable relative to the platform in a direction substantially parallel with a cutting line defined by the cutting tool and at least one lamp assembly supported by the housing. The at least one lamp assembly has a light source and a reflector that is selectively adjustable relative to the housing for directing a beam of light emitting from the light source.
