  • Patent number: 4516594
Abstract: A multi-port valve comprises a valve seat skeleton and a valve body of readily castible material cast about the skeleton. The valve seat skeleton comprises a plurality of wear-resistant members each having a wear-resistant operative surface formed thereon. The wear-resistant members are secured to one another to retain the wear-resistant operative surfaces thereof in a predetermined fixed arrangement. The valve body has a plurality of valve passages formed therein, one for each valve port, at least one of said passages opening to expose each wear-resistant operative surface for engagement by a movable valve component mounted in each valve passage to bear against and move relative to each wear-resistant operative surface in use. The valve is manufactured securing a plurality of wear-resistant members to one another to form a valve seat skeleton on which the wear-resistant operative surfaces are arranged in a predetermined fixed relationship, and casting the valve body about said skeleton.

  • Patent number: 4384816
Abstract: In a dump truck, the most efficient way of raising the container body is to apply a lifting force to the end of the body remote from the pivot point. In some applications it is difficult to do so because of height restrictions and it is particularly difficult to do so in a telescoping container body in which the end of the container body which is remote from the pivot point moves in relation to the pivot point. The present invention overcomes this difficulty by mounting the extensible ram in a position remote from its upright position and providing a mechanism for pivoting it to its required upright position prior to its operation as a hoist. In a telescopic container body, the extensible ram is normally stored in freeboard space disposed below the front section of the container body and is raised into an upright position at the front end of the telescoped body in response to movement of the front section from its extended position to its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4274789
Abstract: A pallet loader particularly suitable for use in loading pallets onto a truck comprises a guide structure mounted at the loading end of the truck and a slide frame slidably mounted in the guide structure and an elevator mechanism mounted at one end of the slide frame. The slide member is slidably mounted on the guide structure for movement between an extended position in which the elevator mechanism is disposed outwardly from the loading end of the truck and a retracted position in which the elevator mechanism is disposed in an overlying relationship with respect to the bed of the truck. The elevator mechanism is operable when the slide frame is in the extended position to engage and raise and lower unattached load units. The slide frame is provided with a drive mechanism for driving it longitudinally of the frame so as to move palletized load units carried thereby longitudinally onto and off of the loading end of the truck.

  • Patent number: 4260317
Abstract: A telescopic truck body incorporating an ejection bulkhead. The telescopic truck body consists of two sections telescoped one within the other. A movable bulkhead is located within the inner section of the telescopic body and a drive means is provided for driving the bulkhead longitudinally of the inner section as the inner section is driven with respect to the outer section. The drive is adapted to move the bulkhead longitudinally of the inner section so that it is located adjacent the discharge end thereof when the inner section is fully telescoped within the outer section.

  • Patent number: 4111485
Abstract: A dump truck having a telescoping container body which is initially telescoped to a reduced length to discharge a portion of the load therefrom in response to the telescoping action and thereafter elevated to discharge the remainder of the load in the manner of a conventional dump truck. The fully extended length of the container body, which determines the load carrying capacity of the container body, is greater than that which would normally be elevated to directly discharge the load therefrom in the manner of a conventional dump truck. The retracted length of the container body is no greater than the acceptable length of a container body for elevating to dump a load in a conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 4094233
Abstract: Cold water is supplied through an inlet water line from a source under pressure to a cold water basin from which it is siphoned to a hot water tank therebelow. The hot water is siphoned out of the tank for brewing coffee extract. A valve in the inlet water line is closed when the level of the cold water in the basin engages a probe or collar the elevation of which can be adjusted. Under conditions of low water pressure the siphon to the tank may start before the shutoff level in the basin is reached. Water may continue to flow without that level being reached. The level of the hot water then rises above the siphon out level of the hot water siphon and engages a probe resulting in closure of the valve to prevent further flow through the hot water siphon and overflow of the tank. Should the level of the water in the basin rise above the shutoff level, a float switch is opened to close the valve.
