  • Patent number: 6669586
Abstract: A broadhead being attachable to an arrow shaft, includes a blade support having an internal passage defined in a blade receiving body, the blade receiving body having a plurality of slots defined therein extending from the internal passage to a blade receiving body external margin and having a camming surface. A translatable ring is disposed in the internal passage, and a plurality of extendable blades, each blade being shiftably coupled to the ring proximate a blade first end and being at least partially disposed in a respective slot when in a blade retracted disposition, a blade second end being cammable outward to a blade extended disposition by interaction with the body camming surface. A method of operating an expandable broadhead is further included.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 15, 2003
Date of Patent: December 30, 2003
    Assignee: Barrie Archery LLC

  • Patent number: 6270435
Abstract: An arrowhead has spring loaded blades restrained thereon, which blades release and penetrate a target as the target is struck by the arrow. This arrowhead provides the striking power of an arrowhead known as a broadhead, while having streamlined flight characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6021770
Abstract: A combination archery bow stabilizer and string tracker having a built-in shock- and vibration-damping system comprising a body portion containing a chamber for holding a spool of tracking string and a chamber housing a temperature-insensitive vibration-damping and shock-absorbing viscoelastic polymer element in which a bow-mounting rod is embedded. The viscoelastic polymer element material is preferably a flexible polyurethane of essentially linear structure, containing unsatisfied hydroxyl groups, and having a compression set of less than 15%, an elongation at break of at least 500%, and a recovery after compression which is delayed by at least 0.7 seconds. The system minimizes the vibration due to shock created by the release of the arrow and by the pay out of the tracking string.

  • Patent number: 6006734
Abstract: A bow-mounted archery quiver having a twin-hood design provides improved noise reduction and balance features. Arrows are held in a vertical position and may be removed in either of two directions relative to the archer. An arrow-holding element is formed from an elastomeric material, preferably a viscoelastic polyurethane elastomer. The quiver is provided with an offset configuration so as not to interfere with operation of the bow. The quiver may be mounted to the side of the handle riser of a bow using a dovetail mounting arrangement. A quick release mechanism allows for positive one-hand push-button release of the quiver from the archery bow.
