  • Patent number: 11953276
Abstract: A method for determining an operational status of a firearm based on a discharge event is provided. A signal indicative of a plurality of accelerations sensed by an inertial measurement unit is received by an event detection module. A sample shot profile is determined based on the signal. The shot profile can comprise a first peak at a first time representing initial discharge of the firearm wherein a bolt of the firearm moves from an initial forward position, a second peak at a second time, representing the bolt engaging a rear buffer of the firearm, and a third peak at a third time, representing the bolt returning to the forward position. A measured bolt speed of the weapon is determined based on a difference between the second and third times. The measured bold speed is compared to a baseline weapon bolt speed. An operational status of the weapon is determined.

  • Publication number: 20240102759
Abstract: A system for providing discharge monitoring of a firearm includes a first sensor, a second sensor and an event detection module. The first sensor is disposed on the firearm that senses a first acceleration along a first axis and sends a first input signal. The second sensor is disposed on the firearm that senses a second environmental variable and sends a second input signal. The event detection module receives the first input signal and compares the first acceleration to an acceleration threshold indicative of a shot; receives the second input signal and compares the second input signal to a second threshold indicative of a shot; determines whether a discharge has occurred based on both the first signal satisfying the acceleration threshold and the second input signal satisfying the second threshold; and generates an event detection signal based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20240068761
Abstract: A method for initiating a responsive action based on an operational status event of a firearm is provided. The method can include receiving, by an event detection module, acceleration and rotation input signals from an inertial measurement unit configured on the firearm. An occurrence of an operational status event based on the acceleration and rotation input signals are identified by the event detection module. A tipping signal is generated by the event detection module based on the identified operational status event. The tipping signal is received at a responsive infrastructure. The responsive infrastructure performs a responsive action based on the tipping signal.

  • Publication number: 20240027157
Abstract: A weapon usage monitoring system that monitors information about at least a first weapon and a second weapon includes a mobile networking hub, a first weapon response device, a second weapon response device and an edge compute resource. The mobile networking hub can provide a local area network (LAN). The first weapon response device can have a first sensor that senses first weapon response data about the first weapon. The first weapon response device can communicate the first weapon response data to the mobile networking hub. The second weapon response device can have a second sensor that senses second weapon response data about the second weapon. The second weapon response device can communicate the second weapon response data to the mobile networking hub. An edge compute resource can aggregate the first and second weapon response data from the mobile networking hub into aggregated weapon response data.

  • Patent number: 10677563
Abstract: A system for monitoring a user of a firearm generally includes an inertial measurement unit configured to be disposed inside a grip of the firearm for measuring motion of the firearm. The system also includes an event detection system for detecting a detected event that includes at least one of gripping of the firearm, raising of the firearm, aiming of the firearm, and discharging of the firearm based on the motion of the firearm measured by the inertial measurement unit. The system further includes a communication system for wirelessly communicating the detected event.

  • Patent number: 4236305
Abstract: A resilient ring is fitted over a shoulder and onto the bail band indent of a bottle by an apparatus having means for supporting and locating the resilient ring, means to locate and align the bottle with the ring, and ram means for relatively displacing the ring and bottle to force the ring over the shoulder of the bottle, the ring support means engaging the shoulder of the bottle under radially inwardly directed biassing forces while supporting the ring as it is deformed to pass over the shoulder means. Preferably, the support means has a multiplicity of circumferentially spaced jaw elements displaceable under spring biassing in respective guides.
