Patent number: 8794152Abstract: A gas-impermeable sealer element (24, 124) for a detonator or other explosive initiation device includes a non-reactive sleeve (26, 126) having a channel (28, 128) formed therein. A reactive material strip (30, 130) is sealed within the channel for transmission of an explosive's initiation signal through the sealer element (24, 124), either alone or in cooperation with transfer charges located at the input and/or output end of the non-reactive sleeve (26, 126). The reactive material strip (30, 130) comprises a reactive metal wire or other substrate (34) having on one or both sides thereof a layer of reactive material (30, 130, 36), either reactive metal foils which react exothermically when ignited, or a deposited fuel-oxidizer reactive material. The reactive materials, upon being energized, react exothermically in the absence of atmospheric oxygen or other extraneous oxidizer and so may be encapsulated, sealed or otherwise isolated from the atmosphere in use.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2011Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: Dyno Nobel Inc.Inventors: Tyson J. Publication number: 20140198087Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide an input device that includes one or more source drivers that are coupled to a display screen. Specifically, one of the source drivers may be coupled to a plurality of source lines (or column lines) on the display screen which the source driver uses to set voltages associated with one or more sub-pixels that determine the color displayed by the pixel. When driving voltages onto subsequent source lines, the input device may precharge the source driver using a latent voltage stored on the source lines. That is, if the source line was previously driven to a particular voltage by the source driver, the input device uses that latent voltage to precharge the output of the source driver to the same voltage. The source driver may then adjust its output to a desired voltage and drive the desired voltage onto the source line and sub-pixel.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2013Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: Synaptics IncorporatedInventors: Imre Knausz, Brian Mott, John Childs

Publication number: 20130057512Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide an input device with display screens that periodically update (refresh) the screen by selectively driving common electrodes corresponding to pixels in a display line. In general, the input devices drive each electrode until each display line (and each pixel) of a display frame is updated. In addition to updating the display, the input device may perform capacitive sensing using the display screen as a proximity sensing area. To do this, the input device may interleave periods of capacitive sensing between periods of updating the display based on a display frame. For example, the input device may update the first half of display lines of the display screen, pause display updating, perform capacitive sensing, and finish updating the rest of the display lines. Further still, the input device may use common electrodes for both updating the display and performing capacitive sensing.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2012Publication date: March 7, 2013Applicant: Synaptics IncorporatedInventors: Jeffrey Lillie, John Childs, Christopher Ludden, Thomas Mackin, Petr Shepelev
