  • Patent number: 6871486
Abstract: A chain link has a substantially centrally located juncture section with a first eye portion integrally connected to one end of the juncture section and a second eye portion integrally connected to the opposite end of the juncture section. The eye portions extend longitudinally outwardly from opposite ends of the juncture section and are disposed at a substantial angle relative to each other at opposite ends of the link. Such link may be connected to contiguous links to form a segment of a chain, with all of the links in a segment of chain thus produced having substantially the same orientation when the chain is held straight.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 2003
Date of Patent: March 29, 2005
Assignee: Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc.
Inventors: Michael D. Moehnke, Stephen P. Doan, Richard John Stewart, David Garnet John Conroy, Martin Charles Simpson, James Anthony Russell, Peter Alan Lude

  • Patent number: 6435427
Abstract: The present invention provides for a nozzle assembly including a body having a conduit extending from an inlet to an outlet. A first end of a shaft is mounted to the body and a second end of the shaft extends from the body proximate the outlet. The shaft is moveable between a retracted position and an extended position. A turret is rotationally mounted on the second end of the shaft and a plurality of nozzles are removeably mounted on the turret for alignment with the outlet. The nozzle that is aligned with the outlet sealingly mates with the outlet when the turret in the retracted position and is spaced from the outlet when the turret in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 5544447
Abstract: A root control and containment system for holding and growing a plant in a cavity in the earth for controlling and containing vertical and horizontal root growth is disclosed. The system includes a vessel having upstanding sidewalls and a base therebelow and an open top thereabove. A root inhibiting carbon bound material is in chemical communication with the vessel and stores and releases the root inhibiting carbon bound materials over protracted periods of time. The root inhibiting carbon bound material is disposed in a discrete pattern relationship on an inner surface of the sidewalls and the base. The controlled release of the carbon bound material rejects lateral root growth therethrough the wall and vertical root growth therethrough the base of the vessel. An arcuate collar is attached to an upper edge of the sidewall of the vessel and is disposed above the surface of the earth surrounding the cavity for rapid identification of the cavity by field personnel when performing field tasks.

  • Patent number: 4373844
Abstract: This is a machine which assists the operator in assembling paper dust jackets around the hard covers of a new book. The machine includes the plurality of vacuum suction cups mounted on a pair of oscillating transferring arms which transport the paper jacket from a supply stack to position the jacket on the back of a hard cover book while the book is being held in a positioning jig which also supports the covers in substantially horizontal position to receive the jacket from the vacuum cup and transfer arm assembly. The transfer arms are mounted on an oscillating shaft which is actuated by the positive air discharge from a compressor. A vacuum pump provides the vacuum for the suction cups. The chain and sprocket drive rotates the transfer arms and the suction cups from the plane of the pickup position to the plane defined by the book covers in the positioning jig during the transfer movement of the arms through their predetermined arc.
