  • Patent number: 4154417
Abstract: A mounting bracket for an outboard electric trolling motor has center and side arms for moving and supporting a propulsion motor, as for a fishing boat, between a submerged, outboard operating position and a retracted inboard, locked and secured storage position on the deck of the boat. An adjustable linkage is interposed between pivot axes on the side arms of the bracket for adjustment of the orientation of the motor shaft in the retracted storage position. Such adjustment selectively biases the propulsion motor housing downwardly onto a resilient pad on the bracket to cushion same against shocks occurring during trailering and during high-speed water operation of the boat.

  • Patent number: 4129088
Abstract: An outboard electric trolling motor has a motor unit comprising a control head, pivot tube, and submersible drive carried in a hinge bracket at the bow of a boat. The hinge bracket is linked by lever arms to the boat for swinging the motor unit from a forward, operating position to a raised, rearward storage position. In a remote control embodiment, the control head and a hinge tube are carried non-rotatably by the hinge bracket with the pivot tube and drive carried rotatably with respect thereto for steering the boat. In a tiller embodiment, the control head is affixed to the pivot tube and the entire motor unit is rotatable in the hinge bracket for steering. The hinge bracket is provided in two cast pieces joined together about the hinge tube or pivot tube by nuts on threaded studs, whereby the motor unit need not be disassembled to remove same from the hinge bracket.

  • Patent number: 3989000
Abstract: An outboard vertical axis electric trolling motor has a combination power transmission means and clutch between the steering motor and the pivot shaft wherein the surface of a pulley wheel is covered with deformable elastic material such as O-rings to form temporary teeth upon engagement with timing belt teeth. A thrust-direction indicating pointer is linked to the wheel on the pivot shaft.
