  • Publication number: 20220244021
Abstract: Lightweight armor includes an inner liner with releasable fasteners on its outside surface for attachment to an aircraft interior releasable fastener layer and with an inside surface including releasable fasteners. A plurality of tiles of pressed polymer fibers in a resin matrix are secured to the inner liner inside surface with releasable fasteners. A cover is secured to the tiles with releasable fasteners.

  • Publication number: 20180112955
Abstract: An RPG defeat system and method wherein a foam body is placed at a proximate a target. The foam body has a sufficiently low density to be pierceable by an RPG sensor without the RPG sensor being strained sufficiently to create a voltage. The foam body has a compressive strength sufficient to deform the RPG short circuiting a voltage pathway from the sensor to the RPG detonator. The foam body has a sufficient thickness and/or is spaced from the target to deform the RPG short circuiting the voltage pathway from the sensor to the RPG detonator before the sensor strikes the target and is strained creating a voltage.

  • Patent number: 7497968
Abstract: The invention features dilute solutions of rigid rod or extended rod lyotropic liquid crystalline polymers prepared from high concentration polymerization mixtures. The invention also features methods of preparing such dilute solutions which utilize high mechanical shear to induce mix the high concentration solution with a diluent. The invention further provides articles of manufacture, including films and fibers, having a porous microstructure which are prepared from the dilute homogeneous solutions of the invention.
