  • Patent number: 8485775
Abstract: A rotor for a radial flow turbine has an impulse chamber (51) having an inlet defined in a circumferential surface of the rotor and a reaction chamber (62) having an outlet defined in the circumferential surface of the rotor. The impulse chamber is in fluid communication with the reaction chamber, and the reaction chamber outlet is axially displaced from the impulse chamber inlet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 13, 2012
Date of Patent: July 16, 2013
Assignee: Cambridge Research and Development Limited

  • Patent number: 4911447
Abstract: A random determination device includes a generally circular central planar element having an indicating device located thereon where the outer circumference of the central element is generally circular except for inset lobes and where the central element is received in the opening in an annular element having choices indicated around the periphery so the indicating device of the central element can selectively point to various choices and where notches are provided in the periphery of the central element and adapted to receive clutch means and where the notches of the central element are shaped so that upon relative rotation of the central element and the outer element in one direction the clutch means engage the inner periphery of the outer element and prevent relative movement of the central and outer elements and upon rotation in the opposite direction the clutch means recess into the notches out of engagement with the outer element to allow rotation of the outer element on the inner element.

  • Patent number: 4574710
Abstract: A combustion system to utilize particulate fuel where the fuel is compressed and extruded into a selected shape to be burned in a combustion chamber under conditions where particles of burning material are maintained in the combustion chamber until the weight of the particulate material decreases to the point where the particle is carried from the chamber through a heat exchanger by combustion gasses to a scrubber section for removal of impurities such as SO.sub.2 and NO.sub.x.
